The Huawei P9 Lite hasn't received new software in a while, but rest assured that Huawei hasn't forgotten about it. We've discovered the changelog for an upcoming update that adds a couple of new features to the device. Along with Android security patches from Google, the firmware brings three popular titles from Gameloft. It's rolling out to the SLA-L22 variant of the Huawei P9 Lite, so owners should see over-the-air update notification very soon.

The update doesn't pack much in the way of major Android features and changes, but it's great for folks who like to play games on their smartphone. Gameloft is a well-known developer that licenses IP from other companies to create all sorts of games, and the over-the-air update for the P9 Lite includes three: Sonic Runners, Spider-Man: Ultimate Power, and Dragon Mania. They can be found in the Games folder on the Huawei P9 Lite's launcher once the OTA update installs.

Huawei P9 Lite owners can also look forward to patches from Google for improved system security. It's unclear, unfortunately, whether the patches are from this month -- Google issued the February Android security bulletin earlier this week.

While it may have been a while since the P9 Lite has gotten an official update from Huawei, the XDA community has been working to add various changes and features to the smartphone. Last year, we published a guide that showed how to enable RAW capture capabilities with the stock P9 Lite camera, and a mod released by the community a few months ago increased the maximum headset volume of the P9 Lite.
