Latest Nokia 3 Android Oreo beta brings Night Light feature
The Nokia 3 was launched at MWC 2017 alongside the Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5. It is a budget device and its list of specifications includes the MediaTek MT6737 system-on-chip, 5-inch HD (1280×720) 16:9 IPS display, 2GB of RAM paired with 16GB of storage, an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 2630mAh battery. The phone shipped with stock Android 7.0 Nougat, and it is currently positioned above the entry-level Nokia 2 in HMD Global’s device portfolio.
HMD Global started the official Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for the Nokia 3 in February, and the first beta build was released last month. It’s worth noting that the Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5 have already received their stable Oreo updates. Now, the latest Android Oreo beta build for the Nokia 3 has introduced the Night Light feature.
The Night Light feature was first introduced in the Google Pixels. It makes the display amber for more comfortable reading at night time by cutting down on blue light. Blue light is said to affect circadian rhythm and make it more difficult to sleep at night, so cutting down blue light is helpful when reading at night time. Night Light can be automatically scheduled on or off at predefined hours during the day, so for example, users can schedule it between 12 AM to 6 AM.
HMD Global included the feature in the Android Oreo update for the Nokia 8, and now, the feature has made its way to the company’s first budget device.
The Android Oreo build that brings the Night Light feature to the Nokia 3 is numbered V3.250. It also contains the March security patches, a new camera app, and includes other standard Android Oreo features such as notification channels, picture-in-picture mode, smart text selection, and more. The company is expected to roll out the stable Android Oreo update for the device in the coming weeks.
