Lenovo Carme fitness tracker with a 1.3″ colored display, IP68 rating, heart rate monitoring launches in India

Lenovo dominates a large percentage of the PC market worldwide but its scope in the smartphone industry is narrow in spite of its two brand strategy, which includes Motorola as well. It has been extending its footprint with new audio and fitness accessories to go along with its smartphones. The company recently announced a new fitness band, called Lenovo Carme, which is specific to India and comes with a color display, heart rate and sleep tracking mechanisms, and IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Lenovo Carme fitness band is equipped with a 1.3-inch IPS LCD one-touch display, which means you can cycle between the different modes by tapping the button once and select an option by long-pressing the ring at the bottom of the display. Lenovo says that the 2.5D curvature along the edges of the fitness band will help provide maximum readability at almost every angle. With the colored LCD display, you can also choose from many different watchfaces from the compliant app.

In terms of its fitness tracking abilities, Lenovo Carme can track your heart-rate throughout 24 hours and identify your sleep patterns. Apart from that, the fitness band has eight dedicated modes to track physical activities. It includes support for activities such as running, walking, cycling, rope-skipping, and sports such as football, basketball, and badminton. The Lenovo Carme fitness band can also track swimming-related activities since it has IP68 rating (which means the watch can stay submerged under up 1.5 meters (5 feet) of freshwater for a total of 30 minutes).

Equipped with a 200mAh battery, the Lenovo Carme has a battery life of 7 days with continuous heart rate monitoring and 25 days of standby.

Besides tracking your activity, Lenovo Carme is capable of displaying notifications arriving on your smartphone. The fitness tracker connects with both – Android and iOS – devices over Bluetooth 4.2 and users can read stats about their sleep patterns as well as exercises using the Lenovo Life app. Additionally, it supports sedentary alerts which remind you to move after you’ve been sitting for long.

The Lenovo Carme fitness tracker comes in two color variants – black and green – and you can also change the straps if you desire to. It is available in India via Flipkart for a price of ₹3,499 and will be exclusively available in India, for now.
