LG G3 Set to Receive Lollipop This Week
It hasn’t even been a full week since Android 5.0 Lollipop was officially released and its source code was made public. But in that short time, we’ve already seen quite a bit of progress on the OEM update front, with an incredibly early Motorola Lollipop Soak Test that was quickly captured, Sony’s efforts on the AOSP front, and other update news from Samsung. Now, LG is entering the early update fray with Lollipop for the flagship LG G3 set to arrive this coming week.
News of this upcoming Android Lollipop update for LG’s current flagship comes straight from LG’s Newsroom, with the Korean giant stating that the update will first reach devices in “Poland this week, to be followed by other key markets in the near future.” It’s not clear quite yet as to whether this update will be relegated to unlocked devices or if it will extend to carrier devices. Additionally, no time frame is given for devices in other regions. However, you can be sure that once the first batch of users gets the update, it will be ported over to other variants by the talented developers here on XDA.
Good job, LG. It’s great to see you and other OEMs really taking device updates seriously.
