LineageOS, the most popular custom AOSP-based ROM, offers support for multiple devices in its latest Android Pie-based release. Starting today, users with an unlocked Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, and Essential Phone can download and install LineageOS 16 based on Android 9 Pie.

The latest version of LineageOS was released back in February with support for 24 devices, but the device roster has steadily grown in the past few months as maintainers clear the requirements laid out in LineageOS' Device Support Requirements Charter. All 3 aforementioned devices are now on the nightly build roster, so you can head on over to the download page to grab the Android Pie-based build. Before you flash the build, make sure you thoroughly read the installation instructions so you know which TWRP build to install and which GApps package to grab.

Unlike many of the devices on the build roster, these 3 will all officially get Android Pie releases from their respective OEMs. Xiaomi is currently beta testing the Android Pie-based MIUI 10 update for the Mi Mix 2 and Mi 6, while Essential's only phone received its Android Pie update right after the Pixels. Both Xiaomi devices were already on the LineageOS 15.1 build roster, while the Essential device is newly supported by LineageOS. We'll keep an eye on the LineageOS build roster and update you when new devices are added and ROMs become available.
