MIUI 9 Global ROM now available for the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A

A while ago, Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and Xiaomi Redmi 6A in China. These devices were aimed squarely at the budget market, which has always been the case for the Redmi series. With the 12nm process based MediaTek SoC’s, the Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A focus on a healthy combination between power and performance, which many average users with casual needs would appreciate.

The Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A have yet to be made available in regions like India, but you already have the MIUI 9 Global ROM being made available for them. This Global ROM would allow users (that import from China) to load a ROM that has better localization than the default Chinese ROM that would have come preloaded on these devices. The existence of this ROM could also indicate that the devices are heading to regions outside of China.

The Redmi 6 (codename: cereus) gets MIUI update version v9.6.4.0.OCGMIFD based on Android Oreo 8.1 with an update size of 1.2GB. On the other hand, the Redmi 6A (codename: cactus) gets MIUI update version v9.6.2.0.OCBMIFD based on Android Oreo 8.1 with an update size of 1.2GB.
