The POCO F1 from Xiaomi packs in stunning specifications and boast-worthy features for an unbelievable price. While the overall package is feature-rich, Xiaomi has cut some corners or overlooked certain areas which prevent the POCO F1 from competing with other flagships.

While the POCO F1 can capture videos at resolutions up to 4K, electronic image stabilization has been limited to recording at Full HD (1080p). Luckily there's an unofficial mod to add this functionality. The mod also lets you install the official MIUI 10 camera app on AOSP-based custom ROMs.

To get started, follow these steps:

  • Make sure your POCO F1 is rooted
  • Install Magisk with this guide
  • Download the Magisk module ZIP (search for the device's code-name "beryllium") from this link and activate it
  • Grant user access permission by going to Settings>Apps>Advanced>Special App Access>Usage Access>Camera and set it to "Allowed"

You can start using your device as normal and EIS will now be activated by default.

A user has noted that this mod also works for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, enabling EIS for 4K at 30fps on Xiaomi's premium flagship smartphone. To get it running, download the Magisk mod ZIP from here and follow the same procedure as above.
