Amazon’s new Fire HD 10 tablet has USB-C charging and costs $149
Amazon’s Fire tablets are far and away the most popular non-iPad tablets on the market. They’re extremely cheap, have decent specs, and they’re an easy gateway to all of your Amazon content. These tablets technically run Android, though it looks nothing like “stock.” The latest Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet adds USB Type-C and costs only $149.
As you may expect from the name, the Fire HD 10 features a 10.1-inch 1920 x 1200 display. Amazon claims the new Fire HD 10 is 30% faster thanks to a new octa-core 2.0 GHz processor and 2 GB RAM. They also claim 20% better battery life with “up to 12 hours of mixed-use battery life.” Storage has also be upgraded (32 or 64GB internal), with support for up to 512GB of expandable storage.
The biggest update, however, is the USB Type-C port for charging. This is the first Amazon Fire tablet with USB C. Not only does this make it far more convenient to charge the Fire HD 10 with your accumulated USB C chargers, but now it can do fast charging as well. Some of the other features of the tablet include Dolby Atmos audio, “enhanced” dual-band WiFi, and a new “picture-in-picture” mode for some streaming apps.
The new Amazon Fire HD 10 comes in four colors: Twilight Blue, Plum, White, and Black. The 32GB model (with Special Offers) starts at $149 and goes up to $189 for 64GB. Without Special Offers, you’re looking at $164 for 32GB and $204 for 64GB. The tablet is available to pre-order right now and will be released on October 30th.
