OnePlus is gearing up to launch its first-ever OnePlus TV in India on September 26, 2019. But along with the TV, we also expect the company to launch its half-yearly refreshes to its smartphone lineup. Over the past three years, OnePlus has been releasing two phones every year. This year, the company had already released two smartphones at the same time, which initially raised the question of whether we would see a “T” refresh later on. These questions were laid to rest when renders and specifications of the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 7T Pro leaked, giving us a good look at the upcoming devices. In an interview with CNet, OnePlus co-founder and CEO Mr. Pete Lau has confirmed that the next smartphone from OnePlus is in the works, and it will be cheaper than the OnePlus 7 Pro despite coming with a 90Hz display.

OnePlus was the first in the industry to use a QHD+ 90Hz AMOLED screen with the ultra-premium OnePlus 7 Pro. The overwhelming positive feedback pushed us to bring 90Hz, which we believe will become standard on flagship phones, to our highly acclaimed premium lineup so that more people can experience the smooth scrolling display.

CNet’s email interview also claims that the next OnePlus smartphone will be more “affordable” than the company’s current OnePlus 7 Pro, which starts at $669.

OnePlus is being vague about the specifics of the device, which is standard practice for OEMs who do not generally comment on unreleased products. However, based on the leaks we have seen so far, perhaps the phone that Mr. Lau is alluding to is the OnePlus 7T instead of the OnePlus 7T Pro. Leaks suggest that the OnePlus 7T will come with a 6.55″ QHD Super AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which is in line with what Mr. Lau alluding to. Keep in mind that the OnePlus 7 did not come to certain key markets like the USA, where the OnePlus 6T continues to be sold. CNet confirms that the next OnePlus smartphone will be sold in the USA. The OnePlus 7T will thus be a decent upgrade from the OnePlus 6T.
