Nokia 8 gets Android Pie beta release
A lot of Android fans were skeptical when HMD Global took over the Nokia smartphone brand. However, for the most part, they’ve done a good job of releasing competitive devices and keeping them up to date. We seem to be constantly writing about Nokia phones getting updates. Last month, the Nokia 8’s Android Pie update leaked a little early. Now, the beta update is official and available for everyone to download.
This update comes slightly later than HMD Global promised, but we’re still glad to see it. The Nokia 8 is one of the few Nokia phones that has an unlockable bootloader, which makes it a very attractive device. The Nokia 8 was launched with Android Nougat, a 5.3-inch display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4/6GB of RAM, dual 13MP cameras, and 3,090 mAh battery.
Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, announced the Android Pie beta on Twitter. The beta update is available for Nokia 8 owners through the Nokia Beta Labs. Users can visit the website and sign in to get started with the update. You will need to provide your device IMEI number and network operator. Once you’re enrolled, the Android Pie beta will be delivered to your device via OTA update.
