October 2020 security update rolls out for Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, and more Samsung phones
Google is kicking off the first Monday of October with another Android security bulletin (ASB), right on schedule. As expected, the Mountain View giant is also rolling out the October 2020 security updates to the Pixel 4a, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2, and Pixel 2 XL. Moreover, Samsung is pushing a bunch of OTA updates bringing this same Security Patch Level (SPL) to the Galaxy S20/S10 and Galaxy Note 20/Note 10 series in select regions.
Apart from the various security improvements for the Android platform, Linux kernel, and vendor components, there doesn’t appear to be any functional changes for Google’s Pixel devices. You can see all the fixes along with the accompanying devices in the chart below.
Build Numbers (Global variants)

While the OTAs will be reaching your Google Pixel device in a matter of a few days, you can also manually install the update either by flashing the latest factory image, sideload the OTA file from recovery, or use Google’s online flashing tool to do the job for you.
Talking about Samsung, the Galaxy A50 has already received the October 2020 Android security update. The Korean OEM is now expanding the list by rolling out the latest monthly security patches to their Galaxy S20, Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy Note 10 lineup.

The Galaxy Note 20 series has received the patches as well, but only in the USA carrying firmware version N98xU1UES1ATID.
