Latest OnePlus 5/5T OxygenOS Open Beta brings April security patch, Earphone Mode options, and more

It has only been about two weeks since the last OxygenOS Open Beta update for the OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 also received an Open Beta update very recently. Keeping the update train rolling, OnePlus is sending out another Open Beta update to the OnePlus 5T/5. The update brings the 5T up to Beta 6 and the 5 up to Beta 8.

OnePlus 5 Beta 8 Changelog

  • Added Autoplay – Autoplay paused music when connected to earphones
  • Added Notification ringtone options
  • Added Broadcast caller information – Announce caller information when using earphones

OnePlus Clock

  • Changes to alarm background color and other UI changes

  • Updated Android security patch to 2018-04

The main thing included in these updates is the April security patch. Even if a security patch isn’t an exciting update, it’s important to have the latest. April’s security¬†patch hasn’t even been available for two weeks, so kudos to OnePlus for getting it out quickly (at least on the beta path). The other thing of note is the “Earphone mode.” Users can have music play automatically when connected to earphones, choose ringtone options, and hear caller ID info through earphones.

OnePlus has included the same Clock and membership card updates that we saw on the OnePlus 3T/T. Users already on the OxygenOS beta path will receive this update as an OTA. Users who are not on the beta path can download and flash the ROM from the links below.
