Devices with a fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone give users another place to add in gestures. These fingerprint sensors can not only authenticate a fingerprint, but they can also detect various directional swipes as long as they are running the proper firmware and the software can detect them. So those with the OnePlus 5T were rather upset when they updated their device to Android 9 Pie and learned that third-party fingerprint gesture apps no longer worked on their phone.

OnePlus 5T XDA Forum

As usual, the developer community at XDA is here to save the day and Senior Member Aswin08 created a Magisk Module to add swipe gestures to the fingerprint scanner. Once downloaded and installed via Magisk Manager, you'll get the following fingerprint gestures on the OnePlus 5T running OxygenOS-based on Android 9 Pie:

  • Swipe left for BACK/Close notification
  • Swipe right for HOME
  • Swipe up for RECENTS
  • Swipe up twice for switching to LAST APP
  • Swipe down UNTOUCHED (Default notifications swipe)

The developer says this Magisk Module has been tested on the OnePlus 5T that is running Open Beta 20 update and Magisk v18, but it may also work on the OnePlus 6 as well.
