The OnePlus 6T launch event has been moved to October 29 to not overlap with Apple’s iPad event
Mark your calendars, or rather update your calendars, as the OnePlus 6T launch event has been bumped up to October 29th. The OnePlus 6T was originally scheduled to be unveiled on October 30th in an event in New York and separately in India, but OnePlus has decided to move their event forward a day because Apple has scheduled a hardware event on October 30th. With much of the media attention guaranteed to focus on the new Apple iPad, OnePlus made the difficult decision to move their launch event to another date rather than compete with Apple for the headlines. So, if you were looking forward to the OnePlus 6T announcement, you’ll actually be watching it a day early.
OnePlus is moving the event up to October 29th. They are aware that this will cause some issues with travel, so they have announced plans to make things right. First of all, if you bought a ticket you can apply for a full refund. Second, any extra charges you incur to change your plans will be covered by OnePlus. That includes hotel reservations and flight changes. The OnePlus team will be getting in touch with all ticket owners individually to help sort things out.
In typical OnePlus fashion, many key details about the upcoming flagship smartphone have already been revealed by the company. We know the OnePlus 6T will have an in-display fingerprint sensor that’s optical rather than ultrasonic, that it’ll have a larger battery as it won’t have a headphone jack, updated OxygenOS software, and that it’ll have greater availability in European countries like the Netherlands, France, and the United Kingdom. What’s more, there are even rumors that the smartphone will officially be carried by T-Mobile in the United States and even work on Verizon Wireless as an LTE-only device. We’re nearing the launch of the OnePlus 6T, and we’ll be at the event to bring you the latest news about OnePlus’ latest flagship smartphone.
