The OnePlus 6T is an exciting device in a lot of ways. It has a big, beautiful display with a minimal waterdrop notch, bleeding edge tech with the in-display fingerprint scanner, dual cameras on the rear, a big battery, and it comes with Android Pie. However, one of the most exciting things about the device, at least here in the U.S., is the T-Mobile partnership. A OnePlus staff member has shared more details about this carrier variant.

Customers have been asking a lot of questions about this T-Mobile partnership and what it means for the OnePlus 6T. Is it a special model? Is the bootloader still unlocked? Etc. The blog post sets out to answer some of these questions. The handy chart below compares the differences between the Tmo and global models.

As you can see, there are some differences. There are a couple of asterisks there that may be important to uses. The first is for the network, which is locked to T-Mobile (if purchased through T-Mobile) until the device is paid in full and utilized on their service for 40 continuous days. To unlock the bootloader, the device must be network unlocked.

Another area of interest for potential buyers is software updates. Will the T-Mobile version get updates at the same time as the global model? "Due to the additional level of certification required by T-Mobile on all software releases, there may be a slight offset but we are working diligently to minimize this period in all instances." In other words: no. The T-Mobile OnePlus 6T will be subject to the same delays as any other carrier phone. Also, the Tmo OnePlus 6T will not be eligible for the OxygenOS Beta Program.
