There is no doubting that OnePlus smartphones are designed and equipped to perform excellently. But, the camera performance on these devices has not been as empowering as one would expect from a flagship device. With the OnePlus 7 Pro, however, the company took a major leap and introduced a triple camera setup including a 48MP Sony primary sensor along with a 3X telephoto lens and another sensor for wide-angle images. In our detailed review of the OnePlus 7 Pro, the cameras on the smartphone did leave us longing for more but the company says that the upcoming update shall make things "substantially better" for the users.

Reacting to the criticism from the users, OxygenOS product manager, Jimmy Z., said that the camera performance of the OnePlus 7 Pro is being worked upon continually. The aim is to bring improvements to the camera with each software update and with the next update, the smartphone will get major improvements in terms of the HDR processing and the Nightscape 2.0 mode. This update will begin rolling out to users "in a week or so," Jimmy Z. noted.

During an AMA on the OnePlus Forums last week, the company revealed that it has been working to bring additional features to improve the camera performance on the latest flagship. These additions shall include the ability to capture videos with cameras other than the primary 48MP one. Likewise, the Nightscape mode shall also be available for the other cameras.

The product manager also commented that the feedback from the users are being closely monitored and taken seriously – since that's the core of OnePlus' inspiration for innovation in OxygenOS. We hope the company improves the performance of the camera to meet the OnePlus 7 Pro's lustrous DxOMark score.
