Get the OnePlus 7 Pro’s Zen Mode and Screen Recorder on older OnePlus phones
With every new OnePlus smartphone, we see some new and interesting features exclusive to the new smartphone. Eventually, these features trickle down to older smartphones via updates. Likewise, with the recently announced OnePlus 7 Pro (review), the company announced some new features such as the Screen Recorder, Zen Mode, and the updated NightScape feature. As expected, the company has promised to release the Zen Mode and the Screen Recorder on the OnePlus 6/6T while the latter will also be coming to the OnePlus 5/5T later on – even though NightScape 2.0 will be omitted for now due to hardware limitations on the older smartphones.
The features should be available via Open Beta releases over the next few months. But if you’ve been acquainted with our community long enough, you would know that we are not necessarily eager to wait for official releases. We welcome you to install the unofficial versions of the Zen Mode and the Screen Recorder, courtesy of XDA senior member acervenky. The process just involves side-loading the dedicated APKs on your devices.
As we can recall, the Zen Mode on the OnePlus 7 Pro helps users take breaks of 20 minutes, every time their usage reaches a threshold duration, which can be adjusted as per expectations. This allows them to break free away from a continuous and virtually inescapable flow of notifications, and clear their head. While the Zen Mode interrupts all notifications, you can still make and receive calls. Screen Recorder, on the other hand, does exactly what its name says. Besides recording the contents of the screen, you can also use the feature to record audio from the system or the mic and even change the resolution of the recording for optimal file size.
Similarly, you can also install the Camera and the Gallery apps from the OnePlus 7 Pro on an older device from the company as long as it runs on Android Pie.
