Smartphone batteries may not be able to last multiple days yet, but charging technology is getting crazy good. We've seen Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO demonstrate charging speeds that can go up to 0-100% in as little as 13 minutes. Those speeds are still most likely a few years from going mainstream, but OnePlus has a more realistic goal for the OnePlus 7T with Warp Charge "30T."

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau spoke with TechRadar about the upcoming OnePlus 7T, which he revealed the design earlier this week. He says Warp Charge 30T will be able to charge the phone at "23% faster speeds, even while using the device." 30W Warp Charge on the OnePlus 7 Pro can get from 0-50% in just 20 minutes and a full charge in under an hour. The OnePlus 7T will apparently be even faster than that.

As for why they didn't bring this to the OnePlus 7 Pro, Lau says "We’re not going to introduce something for the sake of being first." You will, however, be able to use the same Warp Charge 30 charger with the new OnePlus 7T. Lau says "Our latest Warp Charge delivers 6A at 5V to attain 30W." And for anyone looking for OnePlus to finally adopt wireless charging, don't hold your breath. Lau still points to slow charging speeds as the reason they don't offer wireless charging.

Warp Charge 30T isn't as lofty as the crazy demos we've seen from Xiaomi, Vivo, and OPPO. Xiaomi's 100W “Super Charge Turbo” technology can do 0-100% in only 17 minutes. Vivo has teased even faster 120W charging that can do it in only 13 minutes. OPPO's 65W SuperVOOC is actually on the more moderate side by claiming 0-100% in 30 minutes. The important thing about Warp Charge 30T is we will actually be seeing it in a phone soon.
