The OnePlus Nord was officially unveiled back in July as an affordable mid-range smartphone, marking a return of OnePlus to the mid-range space, which it had abandoned a long time ago. The Nord offers a lot of premium features at a fraction of the cost of its premium siblings, including a 90Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 765G SoC, a quad-camera setup, 5G connectivity, and clutter-free software experience.

In most markets, the OnePlus Nord is available in two variants: a base model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and a top variant packing 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. But for India, OnePlus had promised a variant with even lower RAM, storage, and consequently, pricing. This variant was already confirmed at the time of launch, but it’s only now that the company has confirmed the exact sale date. The special variant will offer 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage and will go on its first sale on September 21st at ₹24,999 (~$340). It will be available only in the Gray Onyx color. For the uninitiated, this India-specific variant is ₹3,000 cheaper compared to the base model that’s currently available in India, which retails at ₹27,999 (~$380).

It’s not just the excellent hardware that makes the OnePlus Nord so great. OnePlus devices are known for receiving excellent software support, and the OnePlus Nord is no different. Since its launch, OnePlus has rolled out many software updates to the device, which have significantly improved the camera performance and fixed many bugs. On top of that, the Nord is also a great choice for those who like to tinker with their device and try out new custom ROMs and mods. In fact, unofficial builds of TWRP, LineageOS 17.1, and Pixel Experience are already out for the device. And now with the release of the kernel source code, we expect to see many more custom ROMs and kernels making their way to the OnePlus Nord.
