[Update 2: NatGeo photos] OnePlus partners with National Geographic and Three UK, announces London pop-up store for May 17th
OnePlus is getting ready to announce both the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro across the world on May 14th. The OnePlus 7 is expected to be an iterative upgrade to the OnePlus 6T, sporting the same chassis but upgraded specs, including UFS 3.0. We know a lot more about the OnePlus 7 Pro, though, including that its display has gotten an A+ rating from DisplayMate ahead of its launch. OnePlus has also already confirmed that the 7 Pro will have triple rear cameras with 3x zoom and a pop-up selfie camera. This is a device in a price bracket that the company has never launched before, and the company is going all in with partnerships with National Geographic and Three UK, along with a pop-up store in London.
OnePlus partners with Three UK
Three UK towards the end of last year partnered with Xiaomi, so they’re certainly no stranger to Chinese smartphone brands. Though nothing specific has been confirmed, Three has said that the first device that will be launched is going to be revealed soon. Given that the launch event for the 7 series is only next week, it’s possible that Three is waiting for that before revealing more information. What it does mean though is that you’ll be able to walk into a Three store in the UK to purchase select OnePlus devices and accessories over the counter, just like you could with EE and Vodafone. We’ll be keeping a close eye on what this partnership exactly means for in the future.
National Geographic is creating a photography series in a magazine supplement with the OnePlus 7 Pro
OnePlus devices are a lot of things. They’re fast, they’re built well, but they haven’t been quite as capable at photography as flagships from Samsung, Huawei, or Google. That seems set to change with the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus and National Geographic have announced that a magazine supplement created by three famous photographers Andy Barton, Carlton Ward, and Krystle Wright will be included with a future edition (likely July 2019) of the famous magazine. All photos are taken on the OnePlus 7 Pro, spread out across some of the most beautiful locations in North America. The first photo, shot by Andy Barton, can be viewed on Instagram already.

Photo by @andy_bardon // Sponsored by @OnePlus // The Russian River, also known as Bidapte (“big river”) by the native Pomo, weaves its way through the Northern California countryside for 110 miles before reaching the Pacific Ocean. I had visited this biodiverse ecosystem before and knew that an aerial perspective would be dramatic, so I did my best to line up a sunrise flight. After making a number of calls, a friend introduced me to a pilot who took us up in his 1948 Cessna 170. Twenty minutes later we found ourselves at the mouth of the Russian River with just enough fog rolling through to create a bit of drama in the photograph. // Inspired by Nature presents the beauty of our natural world through the eyes of three leading National Geographic photographers and the lens of the new OnePlus 7 Pro. #ShotonOnePlus.
“With the OnePlus 7 Pro, I believe we have raised the bar in camera technology. With this association with National Geographic,” Pete Lau, Founder and CEO of OnePlus commented on this partnership,“We wanted to push the limits of what our camera is capable of and we believe that the professional National Geographic photographers did just that. We are very excited to showcase the results from this partnership and hope that our users will be as excited about the camera on the OnePlus 7 pro as we are.
There will be a pop-up store on Oxford Street in London on May 17th, and elsewhere in Europe, India, and the U.S.
While OnePlus is powered primarily by online sales, the company does like to open pop-up stores across major cities from time to time, especially to commemorate device launches. Fans of the company in the UK will be able to attend the rooftop garden John Lewis & Partners on Oxford Street, London to get an exclusive first hands-on of the OnePlus 7 Pro, with the ability to even buy your own device there and then if you like it. If that’s not enough to entice you, fans will also have the chance to meet-and-greet with the UK’s number 1 tech YouTuber, Mrwhosetheboss.
If you’re not in the UK, you’re not out of luck yet. There are loads more cities across Europe that OnePlus will have pop-up stores including in Paris, Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Toulouse, Nantes, Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Rotterdam, Helsinki, Tampere, Raisio, Oulu, Kuopio, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Stockholm, and Oslo. In India, pop-up stores can be found in Pune, New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. Even 6 cities in the U.S. will have pop-up stores. You can check out the timings and all the locations here.
