OnePlus 2 Screen
Lately we have seen a lot of phones come out with screens that are way too much for the internals to handle. Screens with massive 2K resolutions that suck up the battery power and don’t even make too much of a difference in screen quality unless you’ve got vision so good that you can see bacteria. You’d have a lot to see if you looked at my face. I have bad acne.
Unlike the other flagship phones coming out this year, the OnePlus 2 has a humble 1080×1920 screen. It may not be as high resolution as the other phones out right now, but that’s actually a good thing, and I’ma tell you why.
No complaints to be had in the screen department. The 1080×1920 display looks amazing at 5.5 inches. The colors aren’t as bright as you will find on some devices like the Galaxy S6 series, as Samsung uses AMOLED panels which tend to offer the most saturated colors you can find on a phone, but hey, at least I don’t need to keep my brightness on 1% at all times!
You’ve got some dedicated soft keys at the bottom, which allow for more screen real estate up above.
I can comfortably put my screen at full brightness without having to worry about it obliterating my battery. OnePlus did a great job on the screen here.
Screen and Battery Relationship
It’s so important to have a balance between screen quality and battery. There’s nothing worse than having a screen capable of turning into liquid, dripping into your eye sockets, and wrapping themselves around your color nerves, but you can’t even enjoy it because the battery is garbage!
Well everyone just needs to calm down, because OnePlus got it right on this phone. A great screen coupled with great battery life makes me very happy… and I am rarely happy… because I hate myself.
OnePlus 2 Vs. OnePlus 1
Let’s go ahead and compare the screen to the previous model, the OnePlus One.
You’ll notice that the resolution and size are identical.
|OnePlus One||OnePlus 2|
|Type||LTPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors||LTPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors|
|Size||5.5 inches (~71.9% screen-to-body ratio)||5.5 inches (~73.3% screen-to-body ratio)|
|Resolution||1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 ppi pixel density)||1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 ppi pixel density)|
The only difference between the previous model is the screen-to-body ratio.
OnePlus 2 Vs. The Competition
Here’s a peak at the OnePlus 2 Vs. some the other top phone available right now.
|LG G4||OnePlus 2||Galaxy S6 Edge|
|Type||IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors||LTPS LCD capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors||Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors|
|Size||5.5 inches (~72.5% screen-to-body ratio)||5.5 inches (~73.3% screen-to-body ratio)||5.1 inches (~71.7% screen-to-body ratio)|
|Resolution||1440 x 2560 pixels (~538 ppi pixel density)||1080 x 1920 pixels (~401 ppi pixel density)||1440 x 2560 pixels (~577 ppi pixel density)|

All in all the screen in the OnePlus 2 is pretty sexy and can definitely stand up to the competition.
