With MWC 2020 set to kick off in Barcelona, there's a whole lot of new and exciting devices to look forward to. One of the big smartphone brands slated to be at the conference is OPPO, and we heavily expected that they would launch a new flagship smartphone at the event since confirming a launch for Q1 of 2020. OPPO has now confirmed that it will launch the OPPO Find X2 on February 22nd in Barcelona, a few days before the official start of the event.

While there's not a huge amount of confirmed information about the OPPO Find X2 just yet, we know that it (and a mysterious Pro model) recently passed by the NBTC. None of its specs were revealed, though well-known leaker Ice Universe has suggested that the device will sport a 120Hz 1440p AMOLED panel and 65-watt SuperVOOC charging.

We also know that it'll pack a new image sensor from Sony. The new Sony image sensor has a new 2×2 On-Chip Lens Solution, which brings a new “All Pixel omni-directional PDAF” technology. This technology improves the overall focus performance by the microlens structure, and the basement layout of the image sensor makes it so that the focus performance does not depend on the object shape or pattern, enabling high-speed auto-focus using phase differences in every situation. Couple that with the company's multi-year partnership with Pixelworks for higher-quality display technology, and you've got a recipe for an excellent mobile content platform. The Iris 5 Visual has a few cool features such as the ability to playback video in higher refresh rates using MEMC (Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation) or to dynamically adjust the brightness and tone of the display to match the ambient lighting.

Finally, the OPPO Find X2 will feature the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, making it one of the first devices of the year to have it. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is the latest chipset from Qualcomm and was announced at the start of December in 2019. The OPPO Find X2 is shaping up to be an exciting smartphone despite the silence surrounding the finer details, and we're looking forward to its announcement.
