Oppo “R7” Bezel-Less Smartphone Demoed in Video
Recently, images have been doing the rounds of what claims to be the new horse out of Oppo’s stable, the Oppo R7. The talking point of this device is the lack of any major bezel on two sides of the 5.5″ display.
Obviously inspired by the Sharp Aquos Crystal, the images and the accompanying video show a working model of the bezelless device, along with a quick demo of the phone’s music player and video player.
While the Sharp Aquos Crystal was aimed at the mid end market segment at best, the Oppo R7 would be aiming for the higher market end. The phone will also reportedly feature the 64-bit octa-core Mediatek MT6795, along with a 20.7 MP rear camera.
It’s good to see smartphone makers like Sharp, Oppo, Lg and even Samsung push the limits of what the market accepts within the definitions of functional smartphones. From employing an ultra slim form factor in the Oppo R5, to using a motor driven swivel camera in the Oppo N3, Oppo is no stranger to design experimentation. All we can hope is that these experiments do not come at a cost to the overall user experience.
