Oppo Realme 1 has sold 400,000 units in 40 days in India, will get Android P update

In 2018, quite a few good smartphones have been launched in the Indian smartphone market. When it comes to the value proposition, however, only three smartphones have passed the test. They are the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, and the Oppo Realme 1. The Oppo Realme 1 is the first smartphone launched by Realme, an online exclusive brand of Oppo. It’s powered by a capable MediaTek Helio P60 system-on-chip, and in terms of pricing, it significantly undercuts even the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the ZenFone Max Pro. Its starting 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant costs just ₹8,990 ($130).

Now, Realme has announced that sales of the Realme 1 in India have surpassed the mark of 400,000 units in 40 days since the phone’s launch in May. The Oppo Realme 1 has topped the Amazon Bestseller rankings in the past two months, and has been featured as the “highest rated phone” with a 4.4 rating on Amazon India. Since its launch, Oppo has also introduced more colors such as the limited edition Moonlight Silver and Solar Red colors.

The Realme 1 is available in three variants: 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. The 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants cost ₹10,990 and ₹13,990 respectively. The phone has a dedicated microSD card slot for expandable storage. It ships with ColorOS 5.0 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo, and Realme has now revealed that all variants will be updated to Android P in the future. This is a fairly significant announcement. Asus has also promised to update the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 to Android P.

The Realme 1 has recently received software updates bringing better RAM management, software themes, and three-way camera effects. The phone’s starting 3GB RAM variant is still sold via flash sales, while the 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants are available via open sale.
