Razer Phone 2 will be available from AT&T on November 16th
For years, the wireless carriers in the United States have been the gatekeepers to the average smartphone customer. While that still has not changed here, what has changed is the brands of devices that are being sold by these carriers. Previously, if you walked into an AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless or Sprint store, you were bound to only find devices from companies like HTC, LG, Samsung, and a handful of very low-end brands for the price sensitive customer. Things seem to be changing now and the Razer Phone 2 is the latest to be sold by one of these carriers.
Huawei is a major smartphone manufacturer around the world but it was the United States that was the hardest country for the company to crack. They began selling phones in regular electronic retail stores like Best Buy, but they just couldn’t get their most popular smartphones sold in-stores by the biggest 4 wireless carriers in the states. This is why it was such big news when OnePlus announced that the OnePlus 6T would be sold in T-Mobile stores all across the country when the smartphone launched.
We’ve also seen devices from other OEMs (such as Google) make its way into other wireless stores (Verizon Wireless in this case) but this is a relatively new change. Today, AT&T has officially announced that they will be the exclusive wireless carrier for the Razer Phone 2 in the United States. It was previously available from Best Buy. The Razer Phone 2 will be made available to the public on November 16th and potential customers will be able to purchase the device online or in “select” stores. We didn’t get any information as to how many stores the phone will be available in, but they did assure us that it will be at their “flagship locations in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, as well as our new lounge concept in Seattle.”
Not only that, but these flagship locations will also be hosting local gaming events so those who are interested will want to inquire with your local store for more details. AT&T will be selling the Razer Phone 2 for $26.67 a month over 30 months or a flat retail price of $800 (which will still require qualified service).
