Razer is a company that is in a unique situation in the Android ecosystem. Smartphones are not a large part of their business. Even though they acquired a smartphone company back in 2017, the company has only produced two smartphones, both in the niche "gaming phone" category. Software support has been a bit of an adventure for these devices so it's always exciting when we see an update. The Razer Phone 2 is getting an update right now.

With Razer's smartphone business future still a bit uncertain, we're always happy to see its devices receive updates. According to users on Reddit, the Razer Phone 2 is now being updated with the September 2019 security patches. The Razer Phone 2 started receiving Android Pie over the Summer but hasn't seen many updates since.

Besides the monthly security patches, Razer has included a number of additional enhancements. Camera stability and Wi-Fi stability have both been improved. Family Link is now supported. The latest Google Mobile Services apps have been added. Lastly, the usual bug fixes and performance improvements are on board.
