Launching only a few weeks ago, the HTC U12+ is a pretty new device. As a result, it's unsurprising that there are currently no builds of TWRP or any custom ROMs on our forums that you could use to root the device. HTC makes it easy to bootloader unlock your device (off-contract, anyway) and so you can easily modify the kernel image it boots. All you'll need to do is follow the tutorial linked below written by XDA Senior Member Freak07. You just need to patch the kernel of your device, which Magisk manager will do easily for you. Simply following the instructions in the thread linked below will root your HTC U12+ in no time - without TWRP! You'll be able to then avail of a huge number of Magisk modules too, which allows you to systemlessly change different aspects of your device.
