With the launch of the Galaxy Note 10 earlier this year, Samsung introduced a number of cool new features to the Samsung Notes app. The update included handwriting to text conversion, among other things, allowing users to instantly convert their handwritten notes into text documents. This feature was also capable of replacing your handwriting with the recognized text and it even allowed you copy the recognized text for use in other apps. At first, the company promised that these features would make their way to older Galaxy devices with One UI 2.0. However, Samsung is now bringing them to other devices with the latest update to the Samsung Notes app.
In a recent thread on Reddit, u/NotBrndn shared screenshots of some of the new features included in version 3.1.04.16 of the Samsung Notes app. Among these is the aforementioned handwriting recognition feature, but sadly it's limited to devices that include S Pen support. Additionally, there are new ink color options for the screen-off memo and an updated share menu. The app now also allows you to export your notes as Microsoft Word files, which can come in quite handy for most users.
Furthermore, a report from Sammobile on the matter reveals that the updated app now also allows you to zoom in and zoom out while creating a note and it even includes new handwriting styles to choose from. Other than the handwriting to text conversion, all these new features will be extended to all Galaxy devices. To try out these features for yourself, open up Samsung Notes and head over to the app settings from the hamburger menu. Here, scroll all the way down to the About Samsung Notes section, tap on it and then hit the Update button in the following menu. If the update is available in your region, the app should download and install it automatically.
