The Sony Xperia 1 isn't as popular as the latest and greatest from Samsung or Huawei, but it's still an excellent device. XDA TV's Daniel Marchena recently published his full video review and came away very impressed. One thing he liked about the phone was its camera quality. In fact, he has also published a dedicated camera review.

The Xperia 1 has three rear 12.2MP cameras. The main camera is a Sony sensor, while the other two are from Samsung. The main camera has been tuned by Sony's Alpha division, which is a first for Sony Xperia phones. How big of a difference does that make?

Daniel says the Alpha tuning is more apparent than you might expect. There is nearly no image smoothing, over-reliance on HDR and image stacking, or overall messing about with the photos. Like a point and shoot camera, you basically get what you see. However, Daniel says the Xperia 1's camera isn't for everyone. It's not the best camera on the market, but he's usually happy with the results. That's enough for a spot in his pocket.
