Substratum is capable of doing so much more than applying color themes to app shortcuts and custom backgrounds to lockscreens. It can also change a devices' fonts, boot animations, and almost every other user interface in Android. XDA Senior Member anandmore used it to its fullest potential recently, putting together a ctOSv5  boot animation for the Redmi Note 4 (the preview of which can be seen here). And he recently went a step further, offering to take requests for custom boot animations.
