Since August 3, 2020, all new apps submitted to Google Play were required to target at least Android 10. Starting today, all updates to existing apps must target Android 10 (API level 29) or higher. The search giant made similar changes at the end of last year and has been requiring Android app developers to target newer API levels since 2017.
The F(x)tec Pro1 gets official LineageOS 17.1 support
The team behind the popular LineageOS custom ROM has now officially extended LineageOS 17.1 support for the F(x)tec Pro 1.
London-based startup F(x)tec launched the Pro1 back in September last year. At launch, the device ran a near-stock version of Android 9.0 Pie with just a couple of additional apps that had been optimized to work with its physical keyboard. But the company had also sent devices to developers from LineageOS and SailfishOS to speed up third-party development for the device. As a result, the device received official LineageOS 16 support earlier this year in July. And now, the LineageOS team has officially extended LineageOS 17.1 support for the F(x)tec Pro1.

But while the update brings a couple of new features to NVIDIA's Android TV boxes, it's still based on the older Android 9 Pie release. Thankfully, XDA Recognized Developer Steel01 has now released an unofficial build of LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV lineup, if you're hoping to try a newer OS version.

Here's when LG plans to update its phones in India
LG has mapped out their timeline on when Android 10 will be rolling out to some of their flagship phones in India. Check it out!
LG has been putting out some amazing smartphones lately. The LG Velvet represented a change in direction from their usual release plans, as the Velvet is essentially a mid-range phone at a comparatively cheaper price. The LG Wing, on the other hand, packs a lot of weirdness (in a good way) for a phone that stands out from the pack notably, for a change. But one aspect where the company has not stood out as much is in software. In fact, historically, they've been bad when it comes to maintaining and rolling out frequent updates to their phones. If you're in India and you're still awaiting an update to Android 10, then good news: LG actually has a page with dates on when updates are rolling out to certain devices.
Unofficial LineageOS 17.1 is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite
An unofficial build of LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite.
Samsung entered the affordable flagship segment earlier this year with the launch of the Galaxy S10 Lite and Galaxy Note 10 Lite. Since the launch, Samsung has regularly pushed software updates for both the devices, with the Galaxy S10 Lite receiving the company's latest One UI 2.5 update earlier this month. But while Samsung is doing a great job of pushing software updates for the device, the company's One UI Android skin isn't everyone's cup of tea. If you're one of the many Galaxy S10 Lite users who aren't satisfied with Samsung's software, you'd be glad to know that you can now install LineageOS 17.1 on the device.
EMUI 11 Hands-on: Huawei's latest Android update makes multitasking easier
EMUI 11 is the latest Android-based software release from Huawei. It introduces new AOD designs, animations, and multitasking features.
At its annual Developer Conference today, Huawei unveiled EMUI 11, the company's latest Android-based software release for smartphones and tablets. EMUI, formerly called Emotion UI, is now in its 9th iteration, having initially released back in 2012 using Google's Android 2.3 as a base. After Google released Android 8 Oreo back in 2017, Huawei bumped the EMUI version from 5 to 8 in order to match the Android number version. Thus, today's EMUI 11 release was widely expected to be based on Google's new Android 11 update, but that's not the case on the beta we loaded onto our Huawei P40 Pro unit the other day. Instead, Huawei's latest Android software is still based on Google's Android 10 release from last year—but that doesn't mean there aren't enough upgrades here to justify an EMUI version bump.
Realme UI based on Android 10 to finally receive multi-user support
Realme's custom Android skin Realme UI (based on Android 10) is finally set to receive multi-user support with an upcoming update.
With the launch of the Realme X50 5G earlier this year, Realme debuted Realme UI — the company's custom Android software based on Android 10. The new software was well received by users and reviewers alike, and it has managed to create a loyal fanbase over the last couple of months. But while Realme UI offers users an Android experience that's closer to stock Android than OPPO's ColorOS, it doesn't include a crucial stock Android feature that's available on most other Android ROMs — multi-user support.
[Update: Stable] Motorola One Zoom and Moto G8 Plus get Android 10 soak test updates in Brazil
Motorola has begun a soak test for Android 10 update for the Motorola One Zoom and the Moto G8 Plus in Brazil. Read on to know more!
Different smartphone OEMs go by their own schedule when it comes to Android updates. Motorola, for example, prefers to conduct limited invitation-based public beta testing (commonly referred to as "soak testing") before the actual release of a major Android version update through the stable channel. The final beta firmware is often mature enough to be considered as the stable build, which means the soak testing phase is a pretty good indicator of the arrival of the stable update. Now, the Motorola One Zoom (also known as the Motorola One Pro) and the Moto G8 Plus have started receiving such soak test builds of Android 10.
Nokia 2.1 and Xiaomi Redmi 8A Dual receive Android 10 update
Both the Nokia 2.1 from HMD Global and the Redmi 8A Dual from Xiaomi are receiving their respective Android 10 updates. Read on to know more!
Android 10 has now been out for close to a year, and Android 11 is just around the corner. Since last year's Android release has been available for quite a while now, most flagship and mid-range smartphones that are eligible for an Android 10 update from their respective manufacturers have received the update. However, there are still many devices for which the update hasn't rolled out yet—particularly some lower-end budget smartphones where updates are not as much of a priority as they are on more expensive devices. This, however, doesn't mean that they're necessarily going to be left behind. Now, two lower-end smartphones from HMD Global and Xiaomi (the Nokia 2.1 and the Redmi 8A Dual respectively) are getting updates to Android 10.
Resurrection Remix 8.5.7 based on Android 10 is now available for several Xiaomi, OnePlus, Samsung, and Google devices
The Resurrection Remix team has released Resurrection Remix 8.5.7 builds based on Android 10 for multiple smartphones from different OEMs.
If you consider yourself a true flashaholic, then the name "Resurrection Remix" should ring a bell. The custom ROM is known for its style and customizability, while its foundation is based on bits and pieces from LineageOS, Pixel Experience, and OmniROM. The developers started rebasing the project on top of Android 10 a few months ago, and they are now confident enough to remove the beta tag. The Resurrection Remix team has recently announced its first set of stable builds based on Android 10 for a bunch of devices, including several Xiaomi smartphones and a few others from ASUS, OnePlus, Samsung, and other OEMs.
Developers bring Android 10 to the Samsung Galaxy A10, Moto G5S, and Sony Xperia SP/T/TX/V with unofficial LineageOS 17.1 custom ROMs
The Samsung Galaxy A10, Motorola Moto G5S, and Sony Xperia SP/T/TX/V have now received unofficial LineageOS 17.1 custom ROM builds based on Android 10.
Not every Android smartphone is eligible to get 3 years of OS and security updates from their makers, but that doesn't mean you have to abandon them after the official support ends. XDA's huge aftermarket development community is undoubtedly the primary driving force behind the custom ROM scene, which is enough to breathe new life into devices that are not being updated by the respective OEMs anymore. The ever-popular LineageOS custom ROM already has a pretty large roster of officially supported devices, while developers frequently use its open source codebase as the foundation for porting newer versions of Android to legacy devices. Now, you can add the Samsung Galaxy A10, the Motorola Moto G5S and a bunch of 2013's Sony Xperia phones to the list of devices unofficially supported by Android 10-based LineageOS 17.1.
