Samsung is one of the few major OEMs that still cares about the Android tablet segment. Their current flagship-grade tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6, picked up its stable Android 10 update back in April. Two more Samsung Galaxy tablets from the previous generations, the Galaxy Tab S4 and the Galaxy Tab S5e, are now receiving the same treatment. Interestingly, this rollout is rather early as per Samsung’s Android 10 update schedule, as the One UI 2 OTA for the two tablets was originally promised for July 2020.

Google first announced Project Treble with Android 8.0 Oreo in an effort to bring faster updates to Android devices and minimize the long-standing issue of fragmentation. XDA's developer community quickly discovered another interesting benefit with this modularization approach: the ability to boot an AOSP Generic System Image (GSI) on any supported device with an unlockable bootloader. After making history by successfully booting AOSP GSI on the Huawei Mate 9, XDA Recognized Developer phhusson has become a lead mentor in the field of community-made custom GSIs. The developer has now updated his vanilla Android 10 based Project Treble GSI AKA Quack Phh-Treble with a new option that greatly simplifies the setup process of various device-specific Treble app presets.

The Pixel Themes app lets you customize the icon shape, font, accent color, etc. on Google Pixel phones running Android 10. We discovered the existence of the app shortly after Google pushed the second Android Q beta, and managed to get an early preview of its capabilities about a month before the public appearance. As the name suggests, the app is not intended for non-Pixel devices, but the underlying overlays that it toggles can still be found on other devices. Although neither the full-fledged Pixel Themes app nor the AOSP ThemePicker is present on Sony Xperia phones running Android 10, the company has left in a lot of the icon shape and accent color overlays that can be activated via the cmd overlay shell command.

Motorola reserves the "Play" moniker for the lower-range and budget segments, which means software updates are slightly delayed on these particular variants. For example, the OEM excluded Moto G7 Play users to date from getting the taste of Android 10, while the regular Moto G7, as well as its "Plus" and "Power" variants, already received the Android 10 update. The wait is now over, as Motorola has finally started rolling out the Android 10 OTA to the Moto G7 Play via stable channel.

As the name suggests, the tool is designed to automatically provide captions for audio that's playing on your device. It works with videos, podcasts, audio messages, and other supported media, making it a great accessibility tool for the hearing impaired. On top of that, the tool can also be used to help improve the video watching experience in loud environments. Now, according to a commit spotted on the Chromium Gerrit (via ChromeUnboxed), it seems like the Google Chrome team is working to bring the feature to the browser.

When it comes to Android tablets, Samsung is one of the only OEMs that make flagship tablets that can compete with Apple's iPads. The Galaxy Tab S6 from last year was among the best tablets team Android had on offer and it seems like Samsung plans on setting the bar even higher this year. We already know from previous leaks that Samsung might offer a larger 12.4-inch tablet this year, alongside an 11-inch model. The tablets are expected to feature the latest hardware, faster charging, Android 10, and predictably 5G support. While Samsung has still not released any official information about the upcoming tablets, we now know that they will be launched under the Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ moniker.

HTC's smartphone division might not be dead after all, but the whole software update situation around existing HTC phones is a big mess. The Taiwanese phone manufacturer is having a hard time delivering the Android 10 update to its phones, with the HTC U11 Life being an exception due to its Android One branding. The regular variant of the HTC U11, for example, is stuck with Android Pie. Thankfully, owners of this phone now have an opportunity to get the taste of Android 10. Courtesy of XDA's brilliant development community, the HTC U11 can not only boot LineageOS 17.1, but the device has also become compliant with Project Treble.

As most of you should already know, the Realme brand has its roots in OPPO, which is itself owned by BBK Electronics. The Realme 1, the first smartphone under the Realme brand from before the company spun off from OPPO, ran ColorOS, a customized Android software designed by none other than OPPO itself. To differentiate their devices from their parent company, Realme introduced a new interface called "Realme UI" which is built on top of Android 10. However, the OEM has no plans to deliver the Realme UI/Android 10 update to the Realme 1, although the phone is still getting regular security updates on its Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS 6 firmware.

Android 10 has been out for nearly 9 months now, but one of its best features, desktop mode, is still widely unknown. That's because it's technically hidden in Android 10, requiring a development flag to be enabled as well as support built-in to the stock launcher app. Thankfully, the developer of Taskbar has figured out a way to make Android 10's desktop mode far more useful, bringing a Samsung DeX-like experience to some devices.

Over the years, the team behind LineageOS has kept the project updated with new versions of Android for dozens of Android devices. The latest version, LineageOS 17.1, is based on Android 10 and supports a long list of devices. Now, the custom ROM team has added official support for their latest release for a lot of devices from OnePlus, Samsung, Xiaomi, and more. Later on, Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 712 SoC with a little performance boost over the Snapdragon 710, and Xiaomi once again was first in line to utilize the then-new chipset on the Mi 9 SE. As the two platforms are software compatible, Xiaomi unified the kernel source code for the Mi 8 SE and Mi 9 SE. Now, Xiaomi has updated its kernel source code repository with the updated kernel sources corresponding to the Mi 8 SE and Mi 9 SE's Android 10 update. Furthermore, Xiaomi has also merged the Mi 9 Lite's sources with the same kernel source code tree.
