It wouldn't be an Android release if some core operating system functionality wasn't renamed or moved, and that's exactly what Google was planning for Android 13. The company had already changed Do Not Disturb Mode to 'Priority Mode' in earlier builds of Android 13, but as of the latest beta release, the name is back to Do Not Disturb.

There are times when you can’t receive a phone call or don’t want to be disturbed by notifications and alerts. To help you during these times, modern smartphones come with a feature called Do Not Disturb (DnD). It mutes all your calls, notifications, and alerts, allowing you to focus on what you’re doing. In this article, we’ll talk about exactly what Do Not Disturb does on a Samsung phone, and how you can use it.

Android boasts convenient Do Not Disturb (DND) settings that let users silence different alerts from their phone. The built-in DND is sufficient for the needs of many users, but it isn't the most accessible setting, especially since Do Not Disturb is often set up in a hurried manner unless you are scheduling it. XDA Recognized Contributor StrangerWeather's Easy DND is an app that aims to make the DND settings accessible in a more user-friendly manner.

Before going to sleep, it can be really tempting to do some last-minute Internet browsing using your smartphone. It's a bad habit that a lot of people engage in, and so both Google and Apple have introduced features this year to help you curb your smartphone addiction. At Google I/O 2018, Google unveiled Digital Wellbeing: a set of features to reduce the amount of time you spend on your phone. Digital Wellbeing has a Dashboard to show you just how long you spend on apps like Reddit, an App Timer to limit how long you spend in your favorite app, and Wind Down mode so you'll actually put your phone down at night. Digital Wellbeing went live in beta form for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with the official release of Android Pie, but one of the features teased during Google I/O didn't make it in: the ability to enable Do Not Disturb mode by flipping your phone over.

Automatic Do Not Disturb while Driving feature rolls out for some users

Driving Mode is a new feature that detects when you're driving and puts the phone in Do Not Disturb mode. It's rolling out to some users.

Similarly to how Google tests new features in select markets (typically the United States) before rolling them out to more countries, they test new software features on their own hardware before rolling them out to more devices. A perfect example of this is how Google Assistant was a Pixel-exclusive software feature at first so they could test it on a select number of people. It then began rolling out to other devices once they were confident it was ready. Some engineers also tested a feature on the Pixel 2 that would automatically enable Do Not Disturb Mode when you're driving, but that feature has now evolved into what Google is calling "Driving Mode" and it is showing up on multiple non-Pixel devices right now.

The alert slider on OnePlus phones is one of the features that sets them apart from other phones. However, the alert slider on the OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T, OnePlus 5, and OnePlus 5T works differently than the OnePlus 6. On the older devices, the top position is Silent, the middle is Priority, and the bottom position is Ring. On the OnePlus 6, the top is Silent, the middle is Vibrate, and the bottom is Ring. It's useful, but it does leave many wondering how to do things like schedule Do Not Disturb mode. There are some built-in options that OnePlus added in OxygenOS 5.1.6, but they're not as robust as stock Android. Thanks to "Do Not Disturb - DND - ZenMode" on XDA Labs and the Google Play Store, you can restore this functionality easily on your OnePlus smartphone. You don't even need root!

For an Android enthusiast like the users on our forums, receiving a major software update can be an exciting event due to the enhanced performance and new features that they often bring. While some brave users are running the first Android O Developer Preview as their daily driver, most owners of the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Google Pixel, and Pixel XL are likely still on Android 7.1 due to its stability. Although Android 7.1 introduced many awesome new features such as app shortcuts, keyboard GIF insertion support, and round icon framework support, it also introduced a rather annoying feature in some people's minds. With Android 7.1's roll out came an updated Google Phone application that automatically switches the phone to Do Not Disturb mode while in the middle of a phone call.
