However, up until last year, it was particularly difficult to access your Proton Mail from a desktop client, with users being required to set up a "Bridge". Then, in December 2023, the company officially launched its desktop app, but gave access only to customers who were subscribed to its legacy Visionary tier. Now, it is making the client available to everyone on Windows and Mac.

ProtonMail's solution to this is the ProtonMail Bridge application, which has been around for a while, but has now received a significant update.

It was considered one of the best email clients at the time and it's still used by many users. However, the lack of new updates in recent years meant the app was starting to feel a bit dated compared to other modern-looking email clients. That’s finally being addressed with the stable release of the K-9 Mail, which not only brings a fresh coat of paint but also adds many improvements while fixing old bugs.

Even though Huawei's smartphone business is struggling in the face of continued US sanctions, the company is making constant efforts to provide a well-rounded software experience on its devices. Not only is the company working on a first-party alternative to Android, called Harmony OS, but it has also released a couple of alternatives to Google's services, like HMS and HMS Core, AppGallery, Petal Search, and Petal Maps over the last two years. Although these services haven't really caught on outside of China, Huawei is now gearing up to launch its own email service, called Petal Mail, to fill the void left by Gmail.

Popular iOS email app Spark now available for Android

Spark, a feature-rich iOS email client similar in fashion to the now-defunct Inbox by Gmail, is now becoming available on Android.

By

Today marks the passing of Inbox by Gmail, an alternative email client by Google that packed a bunch of features like message grouping and reminders, and that, despite not receiving as much love as other Google apps, still holds a dear place in the heart of many users. This is because of the main Gmail app not yet having the same feature set as Inbox--despite Google testing these features on Gmail and further promising they will come--making the transition from Inbox to Gmail an uncomfortable downgrade in many different aspects. Furthermore, there aren't really any email clients good enough to tide you over, but this depends on who you ask. If you're ready to let go, you might want to try other alternatives, like Spark, before hopping onto plain boring Gmail.

That's why it was interesting when XDA Recognized Developer M66B released an email application called FairEmail with the goal of being privacy-friendly.
