Magic UI 4.0 is the next major update to Honor’s UX, which in turn builds upon the changes and improvements that Huawei undertakes for EMUI 11. The EMUI 11 update is already available on a handful of Huawei smartphones via the stable channel, meaning Honor devices are ready to board the update train as well. In a bid to deliver the latest software experience to legacy devices, the Chinese OEM is now rolling out the Magic UI 4.0 update to the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, and the Honor View 20 across the globe.

Alongside the launch of its flagship P40 series earlier this year, Huawei rolled out a slightly upgraded version of its custom Android 10-based skin called EMUI 10.1. Shortly after the launch, the company shared an update roadmap detailing the EMUI 10.1 beta release timeline for older Huawei and Honor devices. Since then, the company has rolled out beta updates for a bunch of devices in its portfolio, with some premium devices even receiving stable updates. Last month, the company shared a list of all Huawei and Honor smartphones that were scheduled to receive the EMUI 10.1/Magic UI 3.1 update this year. Keeping in sync with its release schedule, Huawei has now started rolling out EMUI 10.1 (Magic UI 3.1 in this case) to the Honor 20 and Honor 20 Pro in Europe.

Just a few days ago, Huawei unveiled its newest series of flagship devices, which include the Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro, and the Huawei P40 Pro+. The Chinese OEM is shipping a slightly upgraded version of their custom Android 10-based UI, dubbed EMUI 10.1, with the P40 lineup. One notable inclusion in EMUI 10.1 is Celia, Huawei's own Voice Assistant, which can be invoked with the hotword “Hey Celia,” or by holding the power button for a second. Now the company has announced the rollout schedule of EMUI 10.1 beta for existing Huawei and Honor branded devices.

A month later, the company began rolling out stable Android 10 updates to both devices in multiple regions before the rollout was paused for undisclosed reasons. Now it appears the company has resolved whatever issue it had been facing and is resuming the Magic UI 3.0 rollout globally for four Honor devices.

Huawei has definitely had better times, but even after being slammed by US sanctions and bans — which have heavily impacted their ability to do global business in general — the company is still doing its best to stay afloat. At IFA in Berlin earlier this year, Huawei teased the EMUI 10 roadmap for a couple of devices. The company followed that up with a list of 33 devices, both from Huawei and Honor, along with their update schedule. Among these were the Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, and Honor View 20. As per the schedule, these devices were set to receive an open beta update to Android 10 in late October. As expected, the company is now rolling out Magic UI 3.0 beta based on Android 10 to these devices.

At a launch event in Paris, Huawei has announced the Huawei Nova 5T, its new affordable mid-range smartphone for the European markets. First launched in Malaysia in August, the Huawei Nova 5T is a re-branded version of the Honor 20, which was announced back in May of this year. Except for the new color scheme and branding changes on the back, both devices are identical in every respect.
