OpenKirin's ROMs now support Honor 8, Honor Note 8, Huawei P9/P9 Plus, and Huawei Mate 8
Team OpenKirin has brought unofficial LineageOS 15.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo to the Honor 8, Honor Note 8, Huawei P9, Huawei P9 Plus, and Huawei Mate 8.
LineageOS is the most popular custom ROM for Android devices. It's often used as a base for other custom ROMs such as Resurrection Remix. There are other ROMs like OmniROM that are also popular and may or may not be based on LineageOS. Thanks to the efforts of the OpenKirin project, unofficial LineageOS, Resurrection Remix, and OmniROM builds are now available on the Honor 8, Honor Note 8, Huawei P9/Huawei P9 Plus, and Huawei Mate 8.
Honor 8, Huawei P9, Huawei Mate 8, and more receive Android Oreo with EMUI 8
Huawei has just released Android Oreo based EMUI 8 for Honor 8, Huawei P9, Mate 8 and 4 other devices. Keep in mind that update availability is limited.
Huawei is one of the few companies that consistently update their devices and fight to fix the state of the Android fragmentation. The list of Huawei and Honor devices which will get Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8.0 was announced back in January. Today, Huawei keeping their promise and making Android Oreo-based EMUI 8 available those 7 devices. It is worth noting that these devices received an Android Oreo-based EMUI 8.0 beta update in China back in May. These devices include the Honor 8, Huawei P9, Huawei Mate 8, and more.
