It can be difficult to build a new gaming PC with a good amount of performance if you're on a tight budget. You usually have to make feature compromises to afford all the necessary components. But you don't have to sacrifice everything. We've done the math, though, and we've come up with all the parts you need for an Intel gaming PC that will cost you around $700 and can run games at up to 1440p and 60FPS.

Intel used to be the brand that was synonymous with the word "premium" (or "overpriced" depending on how you look at it), but recently the company has embarked on an aggressive pricing strategy for its long-standing CPU lineup and its brand-new series of GPUs. This generation, it's Intel that has the most to offer for anyone looking for the best value when building or upgrading their PC. For just $1,000, you can build a PC that's great at gaming, productivity, and is ideal for upgrading in the future using Intel hardware.

Following a ton of speculations in recent weeks, Intel has officially launched its Arc A580 graphics card to address the entry-level gaming market. The A580 comes with 8 GB of GDDR6 VRAM across a 256-bit bus interface with up to 512 GB/s bandwidth. It has a 185W TBP and features 24 cores, 384 EUs, and 3072 ALUs. The A580 has a 1700 MHz base clock that goes up to a maximum boost speed of 2400MHz.

The details about Intel's Meteor Lake processors have been coming in droves recently, and something that especially stands out is the capability of the integrated GPU on these upcoming CPUs. After a long hiatus, Intel returned to discrete desktop graphics with its Arc graphics cards, and it now appears that Team Blue is bringing many of the same features to its iGPUs.

At this year's Intel Innovation event, Intel released some key (though not completely unexpected) details about its next-generation Meteor Lake chips, which are coming to next-generation laptops in 2024. While Intel isn't bringing these to the desktop, this is one of the most exciting generations of Intel hardware in recent years. In fact, Meteor Lake is the pipe cleaner that will make the way for Intel's CPUs across several segments, from laptops to desktop to the datacenter to AI.

What is Intel XeSS?

Here's everything you need to know about Intel's XeSS technology and how it evens the playing field against Nvidia and AMD.

Intel is a newcomer to gaming GPUs, entering the market just in 2022 with its Arc Alchemist series. That series today is only comprised of three cards, although only the Intel Arc A750 has been able to join the ranks of the best gaming GPUs. When it comes to graphics cards, it's about the software as much as it is about the hardware, and it's been challenging for Intel to match Nvidia and AMD, which have been in the industry for two decades. Despite having to do everything from scratch, Intel is managing to compete with its rivals even in one of the most cutting-edge areas of gaming. Here's what you need to know about XeSS.

About a year ago, Intel had announced the workstation equivalent to its Arc Alchemist cards, Arc Pro, and despite its launch on paper, very few PCs with Arc Pro cards are available, let alone individual cards. In a new announcement however, Intel not only added another GPU to the Arc Pro lineup, but also claimed OEM systems using its lower midrange A40 Pro are now available from HP, with Dell and Lenovo soon to follow.

It's no secret that Intel's Arc GPUs are struggling to establish themselves as a viable alternative to AMD and Nvidia. When the product lineup launched in 2022, the fastest A770 only provided competition to the midrange RX 6600 XT and the RTX 3060 Ti. Furthermore, driver issues have plagued the entire series, particularly in DX9 titles since Arc GPUs don't have native DX9 support. However, Intel has been hard at work on fixing driver issues, and is even lowering the price of the A750 by $40 to sweeten the deal.

Day-one drivers from Nvidia and AMD for new games are commonplace but now we've got to throw Intel into that ring. Especially since team blue's drivers are the source of much discussion since the launch of the Arc dedicated GPUs. The latest drivers have just been posted for all Intel Arc GPU owners and gets things prepared for some big releases coming this week.

Intel's assault on the GPU markets has two arms, and both are going for almost the same result. The Arc A770 is the range-topper and, for many, the most alluring. But it has a sibling that looks the same, performs almost the same, and costs a little less. And we're not talking like an RTX 3060 and 3060 Ti; the relationship is much closer than that. We're talking about the Intel Arc A750.

It's not all about the Nvidia RTX 4090 today, as Intel's new dedicated graphics cards are also finally on sale. The Intel Arc A770 and A750 have gone on sale in various global markets with pricing starting at $289. For that, you can pick up the 8GB Arc A750, while the 16GB Arc A770 will cost a little more at $349.

Intel's foray into dedicated graphics with Arc is yet to properly take off, but one other aspect has been examined for the first time. XeSS is Intel's machine learning-based take on upscaling for games, similar to Nvidia's DLSS. While XeSS will be supported on Intel's own graphics, it won't be exclusive.
