Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro announced with Kirin 810 and pop-up camera
Today, Honor has unveiled the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro as the latest offering in their popular "premium mid-range" category. Read on to know more!
Earlier this month, Honor began teasing a new launch in their X series, with several leaks confirming key features of the devices. Today, they unveiled the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro as the latest offering in their "premium mid-range" category. These devices don't pack the same punch as Honor's high-end phones, but they still offer a compelling package for a much more affordable price tag.
[Update 2: Press Renders] Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro to have bezel-less displays with pop-up cameras
The Honor 9X and the Honor 9X Pro are believed to come with bezel-less displays with pop-up selfie cameras and up to three cameras on the back.
Honor's mid-range series with the suffix "X" offers a good value for the price. The focus of this series is to empower the average consumer in the sub-$250 price segment and the high demand proves its success. As per official figures, the Huawei sub-brand has already sold 15 million units of the Honor 8X, i.e. last smartphone in the series, in the last ten months. Now, even as Huawei and (consequently) Honor hang by a thin thread held by the U.S. Department of Commerce on one side and President Trump on the other, Honor is preparing to launch its next smartphone in the series – the Honor 9X – on the 23rd of this month.
How the Honor 9X's new Kirin 810 compares to the Snapdragon 730
Huawei has shared benchmark scores of the HiSilicon Kirin 810 SoC, to be seen inside the upcoming Honor 9X, and how it compares to the Snapdragon 730 SoC.
Huawei recently launched the Nova 5 smartphone series in China. The highlight of the event was the Huawei Nova 5 Pro with its HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC that we previously saw on devices like the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro, and the Honor 20 and 20 Pro. But other than the flagship product, the event was also the launch pad for the Huawei Nova 5 and the latest upper-mid range SoC from Huawei, the HiSilicon Kirin 810. While the Nova 5 will likely remain a China-exclusive product, we will get to see the new Kirin 810 in action in future Honor devices like the upcoming Honor 9X. Huawei has now released further details about the Kirin 810 SoC, with a focus on how it compares to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 SoC.
