I've seen a lot of people, quite rightly, complain about the way some device makers customize the stock version of Android for the sake of being different. While some manufacturers like Motorola and, more recently, Nothing nail the UI game by offering a good level of customization with minimal tweaks, there are still plenty of big players that heavily push apps and services through their UI. But you don't have to put up with the look of your phone manufacturer's version of Android.

Widgets have not been a top priority for Google for the past few Android releases, but that does not mean that they are no longer used. A lot of people, including myself, use them on a daily basis, and a homescreen widget for a music player is one of the better uses for an Android widget. A recent update to Spotify removed the app's widget, and Spotify went on to confirm that this change is intentional, meaning that it is here to stay. If you do miss the widget, do not worry, we have two methods to bring back the same functionality, though do note that both the methods use paid apps.
