LeEco smartphones could be making a comeback this year
LeEco, a Chinese former smartphone maker and tech company, is teasing a comeback to the Android ecosystem. Read on to know more!
LeEco smartphones disappeared from the market as suddenly as they first appeared. They first enjoyed press attention in early 2016 when Qualcomm announced at CES 2016 that the company, then going by the name of LeTV, would have the honor of being the first OEM to launch a phone powered by the then-just-released Snapdragon 820 SoC, the (unreleased) LeTV Le Max Pro. They were mostly known as a smartphone maker in the global tech space, but they also developed several other tech-related, and even non-tech, ventures through their almost 10 years of story. At one point, LeEco was involved in TVs, electric cars, bikes, and even wineries and real estate.
LineageOS adds support for the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy Note 9, Realme 2 Pro, and drops the Redmi Note 4
An official build of LineageOS 17.1 is now available for the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ Note 9, and more, while Realme 2 Pro gets LineageOS 16 support.
LineageOS is one of the most popular custom ROMs available for Android devices, and the team behind the project recently released the first LineageOS 17.1 builds based on Android 10. A handful of Google devices, such as the original Pixel lineup and the Google Nexus 6, couldn't make it to the initial roster, but eventually secured spots a few days later. Now, the LineageOS team has extended support for a few more devices, including the Exynos Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+, Galaxy Note 9, and the Realme 2 Pro.
LineageOS 17.1 based on Android 10 is now officially available
LineageOS is making the jump to Android 10 as base with LineageOS 17.1, bringing along several key changes across the board. Read on to know more!
If you call yourself a custom ROM veteran, you definitely have heard about LineageOS. LineageOS traces its roots back to CyanogenMod, the custom ROM that became popular on the HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1, the first Android smartphone available for purchase. CyanogenMod, in turn, went on to become one of the most popular custom ROMs available across a plethora of devices, and several of the key developers and maintainers of the project went on to establish LineageOS when Cyanogen decided to stop supporting CyanogenMod. LineageOS picked up the reins with LineageOS 13.0 and LineageOS 14.1 releases, and the project has continued along over the years. Now, LineageOS is marking its major version bump up to LineageOS 17.1 with Android 10 as the base.
Official TWRP now available for the Realme 3, Amazfit Pace, Yu Yureka Black, and LeEco Le Max Pro
The popular custom recovery TWRP is now available for the Realme 3, Huami Amazfit Pace, Yu Yureka Black, and LeEco Le Max Pro.
Team Win Recovery Project, or TWRP for short, is the most popular custom recovery software compatible with Android devices. It's basically a prerequisite for the custom development community to take off for a device because it's risky to flash custom ROMs, kernels, Magisk, or other mods without having a proper backup. The custom recovery is available for hundreds of devices, and the roster keeps growing. Since we last covered the build roster changes, a few new devices have been added. Those devices are the Realme 3, the Amazfit Pace, the Yu Yureka Black, and the Le Max Pro from LeEco.
LineageOS Changelog 23: Night Display controls Night Mode, Expandable Volume and Quick Settings, Call Recording, and more
LineageOS has published its latest blog post for Changelog 23, detailing the many new features and changes in the Android 8.1 Oreo/Android 9 Pie custom ROM.
LineageOS was born from the ashes of CyanogenMod back in late 2016/early 2017, and since its beginning, the custom Android distribution has grown to support dozens of devices with millions of users. Back in late February of 2019, the team announced LineageOS 16 based on Android 9 Pie for 24 devices. Over the last few months, LineageOS 16 has added support for more devices like the OnePlus 6 and Essential Phone, but the custom ROM has also added a ton of new features along the way. To keep us updated on all the major changes made since the initial release of LineageOS 16, the team behind LineageOS has published a new blog post outlining their progress since March.
Dirac Research: Find out which audio enhancements are on your Android smartphone
Dirac Research technologies optimize the way we hear things in our phones, and they're present in many of today's smartphones (including, possibly, yours).
Sound quality is more important than you may think, and it’s something more people should take into account when it comes to choosing a smartphone. You may not be the kind of person who craves audiophile-grade sound everywhere you go, but a subpar speaker or a subpar set of earbuds can spoil your media-consuming experience. A better sounding smartphone is, of course, never unwelcome, and many smartphone makers have started adopting different audio technologies in order to improve audio and sound.
LineageOS 16 based on Android Pie is here for the Xiaomi POCO F1, OnePlus 5/5T, Honor View 10, and more
LineageOS 16 based on Android Pie is now available for several smartphones from Google, OnePlus, Xiaomi, Sony, Motorola, Huawei, and more.
The custom ROM ecosystem is rather large and diverse, but if there’s one custom ROM that we could consider to be “the biggest” of them all, then that would be LineageOS. With almost 1.8 million active installs at the end of 2018, the project's install base is definitely noteworthy but said success mainly harkens back to their legacy. LineageOS is the successor of the CyanogenMod project, which ended in late 2016 following the shifting focus of Cyanogen Inc.

LeEco Le Max 2 Gets Unofficial EUI 6 with Android Nougat
LeEco's financial woes have affected the company's ability to support devices like the LeEco Le Max 2, but the XDA community's ported a build of EMUI 6.
LeEco's financial challenges are an open secret, and they've started to affect the company's ability to support devices like the LeEco Le Max 2. Luckily, XDA Senior Member KuranKaname was able to get his hands on a EUI 6 ROM for the LeEco Le Max 2 that's based on Android 7.x Nougat. It has a few bugs here and there, including problems with the fingerprint sensor, biometric sensors, and APKs installed from USB storage sources. But other than that, the ROM's working on multiple devices in LeEco's portfolio:
Unreleased LeEco Le Max 3 Shows Up on the XDA Forums
An XDA user has got his hands on the unreleased LeEco Le Max 3, giving us a glimpse at the internal specifications and software.
LeEco has earned a really controversial and shady reputation during the last few months. After a heavily failed attempt of taking over the US market by storm, trying out literally every single thing to stay afloat in some boat or market, as well as attempting to buy Vizio, the company has been pretty much forgotten to this day. However, there is one thing that LeEco did right back in the day: hardware. LeEco phones used to carry flagship specifications at bargain $400 or even sub-$300 price. The company, however, was preparing to show off and launch the Le Max 3, their latest big-screen flagship. Financial issues aside, the Le Max 3 seems to have been shelved altogether, but someone still managed to get his hands on a prototype phone.
The Show Must Go On - Custom ROM Available for the LeTV X3 Series (LeEco)
Check out this custom ROM for the LeTV X3 Series Android TV devices from LeEco. Customize your launcher, install Play Store apps, access settings and more!
Android TV is a mixed bag, for lack of a better term. Some people like it, while others just flat out hate it. What is more, there is not that much custom ROM development for this particular version of Android, which makes the developer community shy away from it. LeEco, which has been on the headlines for a slew of reasons, most of which are somewhat-negative, has been manufacturing their own Android TVs for the last couple of years, starting with the X3 series and most recently, the X4 series.
