Realme opened shop in India back in 2018 with the Realme 1 — a MediaTek Helio P60 powered budget handset that proved to be the beginning of a remarkable journey for the brand. At first, the brand released a slew of budget handsets aimed at the growing number of first-time smartphone buyers in the country. However, Realme has since matured into a formidable smartphone player in India with a strong portfolio of offerings in a few different categories. In addition, the company has also expanded to several international markets, including Europe, where it offers some of its most popular mid-range and flagship devices. Over the course of last year, Realme launched more than 10 smartphones in the 18 countries where it currently operates, and the company finally entered the value flagship space with the launch of the Realme X2 Pro (review). Realme made yet another bold move late last year with the launch of the Realme X50 5G in China, which is the first 5G-enabled smartphone from the company. While Realme was preparing to launch the X50 and the upcoming X50 Pro internationally, the company kicked off 2020 with the launch of the Realme C3 — an entry-level smartphone in the sub ₹10,000 category.

Realme started its journey in India back in 2018 and since then, the company has launched a great portfolio of smartphones in a variety of price segments. While the company was initially limited to budget and mid-range devices, it broke that shell late last year with the launch of its first flagship — the Realme X2 Pro (review). The Realme X2 Pro was soon followed by the Realme X50 5G in China, the company's first 5G-enabled device with a 120Hz dual hole-punch display and Snapdragon 765G processor. Earlier this month, the company revealed that it will hold a global 5G launch event on February 24 at MWC 2020 where it's expected to launch the X50 5G internationally. Reports suggest that Realme might also launch another flagship device alongside the X50 5G, powered by Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 865 flagship SoC. Ahead of the MWC event, however, Realme will be launching a new budget device in India as part of its Realme C series.

Gaming smartphones have become a growing trend in the past few months. Naturally, as mobile games improve and become closer to the ones we normally play in our consoles and our computers, the hardware also needs to adapt and improve. Qualcomm and MediaTek are two companies that have put out chips optimized for gaming smartphones, such as the Snapdragon 730G and the Snapdragon 765G in the case of Qualcomm and the MediaTek Helio G90 and G90T in the case of MediaTek. I personally had a go with the Helio G90T with the Redmi Note 8 Pro and found gaming performance to be as good as it can go. Now, MediaTek is releasing the Helio G70 chipset made for budget gaming smartphones.
