The Team Win Recovery Project, AKA TWRP, needs no introduction to the Android modding community. Over the last few years, TWRP has become the de-facto standard for custom recovery in the Android ecosystem. One of the reasons why TWRP is so popular compared to other custom recovery solutions is the massive number of Android devices the project supports, with new devices being added to the official roster on a regular basis. Since our last coverage, the developer team has officially added support for the Samsung Galaxy M30, Galaxy A40, Huawei P20 Lite, and the Moto G5S Plus.

The Motorola Moto G5S was launched about a year ago as an upgrade to the Motorola Moto G5 Plus. The Moto G5S Plus featured a larger screen and a dual camera setup, though everything else (including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC) was more or less the same. As such, it didn't seem like too big of an upgrade. The Motorola Moto G5S Plus found its way into Lenovo's Motorola update plan for devices receiving the update to Android Oreo, and in February 2018, the company announced that the update was coming soon. While it appeared that the press release was incorrect, users eventually began to receive Android 8.1 Oreo on their devices in Brazil as part of a soak test. Some other Latin American countries got the update as well.

The Google Pixel's picture-taking ability is spectacular, even though the camera hardware may be better on other devices. A lot of the Google Pixel's photo magic comes from the Google Camera app. Features like HDR+ and portrait mode make the camera really shine. A vibrant community of developers and users has sprung up to bring these features to as many devices as possible.
