OnePlus 6 running LineageOS 19

LineageOS 20 has been with us for some time now. The popular custom ROM not only helps legacy and lower-end phones get a taste of the latest Android, but it also provides even more capable devices with an alternative firmware option. The last time we covered the project, it added support for the SHIFT SHIFT6mq and a handful of phones from Xiaomi. Since then, many more devices have made their way to the official roster.

LineageOS offers an easy escape from the old and bloated firmware of your phone, allowing you to experience a lightweight, near-stock form of Android. LineageOS 18.1 is the latest version, and it's available for a wide range of smartphones and other Android-powered devices. Since its official release in March, the Android 11-based custom ROM has steadily expanded its reach to more and more Android devices. In the past couple of months, we have seen the LineageOS team adding support for dozens of popular devices, including the OnePlus 9 series, Redmi Note 10 Pro, Pixel 4 series, Walmart’s Onn and Dynalink Android TV boxes, and Asus ZenFone 8. Few more devices have now been added to the official LineageOS 18.1 build roaster.

Earlier this year in April, Motorola released Android 10 kernel sources for the Motorola One Vision and One Action. While we expected the kernel source code release to jump-start third-party development for the devices, so far, we haven't seen much progress. Even though both the devices have received official TWRP support since the kernel source code release, we haven't seen many custom ROMs on our Motorola One Vision and One Action forums. That changes today, as XDA Recognized Developer Stricted has now released an unofficial build of LineageOS 17.1 for the devices.

TWRP recently added a bunch of new devices to its build roaster, including the Moto One Vision, Realme C2, LG V20, and more. Now, three more devices have joined the list: the Motorola One Zoom, Motorola One Action, and Huawei P8 Lite 2017 making it easier for owners of these phones to try out their favorite custom ROMs, kernels and mods.

From "Edgeless Displays" without physical buttons to wrap-around panels boasting a whopping 180.6% screen-to-body ratio, smartphone manufacturers have tried to push the limits in the war on bezels. Putting aside those futuristic concept phones, notches and pop-up cameras are indeed useful to present a near bezel-less experience. The hole-punch design is another viable alternative to maximize the screen space, but the camera cutouts are not everyone’s piece of cake. Instead of hiding the punch hole(s), a handful of third-party apps can actually utilize the cutout in rather innovative ways. Energy Ring by XDA Recognized Developer jagan2, for example, can turn the area around the camera hole into a battery indicator.

Motorola One Vision/Action Android 10 kernel source code now available

Motorola has released the Android 10 kernel source codes for the Exynos 9609-powered Motorola One Vision and the Motorola One Action.

Compared to the monumental popularity of Qualcomm's Snapdragon series of SoCs, the adoption rate of Samsung-designed Exynos chipsets by third-party smartphone makers is remarkably low. Apart from the Korean OEM itself, companies like Meizu and Vivo have occasionally picked up Exynos chips. Motorola also joined this small club by incorporating the Exynos 9609 SoC in their first phone with a hole-punch display, the Motorola One Vision. The same silicon can also be found inside the Motorola One Action, which was launched a few months later. And now, Motorola has released the kernel source code corresponding to the Android 10 updates for the two phones.

Motorola Camera update brings Google's Playground AR Stickers to the Motorola One Vision, One Action, and One Zoom

An update to the Motorola Camera app in Moto devices is bringing support for AR stickers to devices like the Motorola One Action and the One Vision.

Despite Motorola's perennially erratic update support for its devices, the company does a pretty fine job at keeping its own Camera app constantly up-to-date, even if they're not really a household name like Huawei or Google when it comes to stellar camera performance. Motorola cameras can do the job and the Motorola Camera allows it to do the job well. The app recently got a slew of new features such as Google Lens integration and live filters. Now, with its latest update, the app is getting support for Google's Playground AR stickers on the latest Motorola One devices.

Motorola One Action Review: A Worthy Competitor to the Xiaomi Mi A3

The Motorola One Action is a reasonably priced mid-range smartphone with a gimmick: it has an Action Cam. In our review, we compare it to the Xiaomi Mi A3.

Motorola announced its new One series last year with the Motorola One and Motorola One Power being the first devices representing the new lineup. The company later this year went on to launch the Motorola One Vision, targeted at the upper mid-range segment. While the device was praised for its hardware, it failed to garner much attention in the Indian market due to its high price point. Realizing this mistake, the company is back again with a new device called the Motorola One Action, which retains the DNA of its sibling while also bringing a few new tricks of its own. With a tall 21:9 display, an innovative wide-angle camera, and massive flash storage to boot, the Motorola One Action stands out from the competition. But how does the whole package fare in the real world? And, even more importantly, is it worth considering over other mid-range smartphones? We find out in this review.

Lenovo-owned Motorola set the precedent for a highly competitive smartphone market in India with the OG Moto G. Over the last five years or so, it has lost its market to Chinese brands which dominate most of the market share in India. Lately, Motorola has been sweating it out to revive its lost dominance and India, being the only growing smartphone market in the world, is among one of its top priorities. The company goes on to focus on its Android One lineup, which was introduced in the country last year with the Motorola One Power. Today, we have the latest phone in the series – the Motorola One Action, which comes with a GoPro-style action camera along with a 21:9 hole-punch display similar to Motorola One Vision.

Motorola seems to have embraced the Android One program in recent months. Their first Android One smartphone was the Moto X4, but last year they created a new lineup called the Motorola One series. The Motorola One and One Power were joined this year by the Motorola One Vision. It's an interesting smartphone because it not only has a 21:9 aspect ratio but it's also powered by a Samsung Exynos processor. We've heard credible rumors that Motorola is preparing to launch yet another Exynos-powered Android One phone with a 21:9 display, the Motorola One Action. Now, a smartphone by this name has appeared on the Google Play Console and Android Enterprise Recommended listings, confirming many specifications such as the Exynos 9609 processor and the tall 21:9 display.

Motorola unveiled its latest smartphone, the Moto E6, earlier today, but it's your typical low-priced budget smartphone. We know the brand is working on more exciting devices like its foldable Razr, the quad-camera Motorola One Pro, and the tall Motorola One Action. On the surface, the Moto One Action seems really similar to the Motorola One Vision that launched earlier this year. They both have the Samsung Exynos 9609 SoC, a 6.3-inch FHD+ (21:9) LCD with a hole punch in the top left, a 3500mAh battery, stock Android 9 Pie, 4GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, the One Action has an extra rear camera over the One Vision, and this camera seems to be the One Action's main differentiator. Here's how it might work.
