Facebook for Android adds bottom tabs for better one-handed use
The latest update for Facebook on Android moves the menu tabs in the app to the bottom in order to make the app easier to use with a single hand.
The Facebook app on Android has seen several design changes over the years and the company keeps bringing new UI updates in order to make the app feel a bit more streamlined. For instance, Facebook started testing a new tabbed News Feed earlier this year to give users easier access to the Most Recent and Already Seen posts in their feed. Now, in a bid to make the Facebook app easier to use with one hand, the company has started rolling out a new UI which adds bottom tabs to the app.
OxygenOS Open Beta 8 for the OnePlus 7 series brings One-Handed Mode
OxygenOS Open Beta 8 for the OnePlus 7 series has arrived, and it brings an early version of the company's One-Handed Mode that you can try out now.
OnePlus smartphones generally have three streams of software - Closed Beta, Open Beta, and Stable. Closed Betas are available for a limited number of testers, while the Open Betas are published on OnePlus' forums for anyone to install. Both of these builds are used for testing to iron out bugs and other issues, along with introducing new features. Finally, Stable builds are a culmination of all of the features and bug fixes after the Closed and Open Betas have run their course. OnePlus is now rolling out OxygenOS Beta 8 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, which features an early version of a much-anticipated One-Handed Mode. You can check out the full changelog below.
Descendant GSI adds a "ThumbUI" feature to make it easier to navigate one-handed
Descendant GSI by XDA Senior Member Dil3mm4 adds in a one-handed ThumbUI and other neat features to the AOSP GSI. Read on to know more!
Smartphones and their displays have been continuously getting bigger and taller, and there's no reason to believe that we are going to stop anytime soon. Phones have long since evolved from being purely one-handed use electronics, and most of us now find it very difficult to use them entirely with one hand. Also complicating the situation is the fact that UIs have not particularly adapted to bring down interactable elements within the reach of the thumb. Several OEMs have tried their hand (heh) at fixing this situation with different implementations of a "one-handed mode," and even we at XDA gave it a shot.
