Although Google has confirmed that its premium TWS earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro, will also support Spatial Audio with head tracking, the company is yet to release a firmware update to enable the feature on the earbuds. While we wait for Google to release the update, OnePlus has confirmed that its upcoming Buds Pro 2 will be among the first TWS earbuds to support Android 13's spatial audio feature, and it might beat the Pixel Buds Pro to the punch.

OnePlus recently made its first fully wireless earbuds, called the OnePlus BudsWe’ve reviewed them, and they’re amazing for the price. These were followed up with the OnePlus Buds Z, which provide a more affordable option. OnePlus hopes that you use these accessories with their phones, but that doesn't mean that they won't work with other phones. However, features become a little limited, as you need the OnePlus Buds app for certain features such as delivering firmware updates. OnePlus had mentioned that it was working on another app to bring these features to non-OnePlus phones, and now it has delivered. The new HeyMelody app helps users of OnePlus and OPPO earbuds receive firmware updates for their wearables.

OnePlus recently made its first fully wireless earbuds, called the OnePlus Buds. We've reviewed them, and they're amazing for the price. But of course, being a OnePlus product (even though U.S. customs think they're Apple knockoffs), the company expects you to use them with OnePlus smartphones. This doesn't mean that they don't work with other phones, you can use them, but certain features such as customizing the double-tap gestures need the OnePlus Buds app, which requires you to have the OnePlus 6 or newer running OxygenOS. OnePlus is, however, making an app so that users with older OnePlus devices as well as phones from other manufacturers can use the Buds in their full glory.

OnePlus Buds seized US CBP
[Update: CBP Doubles Down] US customs seized 2,000 OnePlus Buds thinking they're counterfeit Apple AirPods

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has seized 2,000 OnePlus Buds at JFK airport for looking too similar to Apple AirPods.

OnePlus' first pair of truly wireless earphones — the OnePlus Buds — were unveiled last month alongside the OnePlus Nord. The earbuds featured a design similar to the first-gen Apple AirPods, with half in-ear style earbuds and an oval case. However, unlike other AirPods clones out there, the OnePlus Buds do have some noticeable differences (branding and packaging being the most obvious ones) that would help anyone identify that they aren't counterfeit AirPods. But apparently these differences aren't as major, as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) recently seized them mistaking them as Apple AirPods.

OnePlus Buds are now available in Gray in the U.S.

Google announced Fast Pair back in 2017, showing off its vision on how the first-time pairing experience of Bluetooth accessories can be improved. Devices like the original Google Pixel Buds came with support for this new experience, and these were followed by dozens of other accessories. Fast Pair as a feature-set is also gaining new features over time. Recently, Google rolled out location tracking, battery notifications, and new settings for Fast Pair devices. Of these, the location tracking feature "Find My Device" is now rolling out to more devices like the second-generation Google Pixel Buds and the OnePlus Buds.

OnePlus Buds Review - Good audio, better price

OnePlus has just unveiled the OnePlus Nord, undoubtedly the star of the company's Augmented Reality-powered show. Alongside the OnePlus Nord, the company also announced the OnePlus Buds, a pair of truly wireless earbuds for just ₹4,990/$79/£79/€89. I've been using them for a few days now and really like them for the price. They've been the only truly wireless earphones to pull me away from the OPPO Enco Q1 wireless earphones that I've been using since late last year. I've reviewed the Honor Magic Buds, I got a pair of the Mi True Wireless 2 earphones, and yet the OnePlus Buds have trumped them both.

During OnePlus' AR launch event earlier today, the company's hype train finally culminated its months-long journey, and the OnePlus Nord was unveiled. Along with its new mid-range device, OnePlus also launched its first pair of truly wireless earbuds — the OnePlus Buds. The company's new TWS earbuds look a bit like the recently released Vivo TWS Neo earbuds, with a pebble-shaped case and a half-in-ear style hardshell earbuds. But while the OnePlus Buds may look familiar on the outside, on the inside, things are a bit different.
