Want to use your DualSense controller for PC games? Here's how to get started.

When you think of PC gaming, you probably think of a mouse and keyboard, which makes sense since those are the default input method for a computer. But while they're the most versatile, some games are just played best with a controller, and you might be tempted to buy one. But if you happen to own a PlayStation 5, you can use the DualSense controller with your Windows 11 (or 10) PC.

How to install an SSD in PlayStation 5

Installing an SSD in PS5 is fairly simple and it only takes a few minutes.

One of the best things about Sony's PlayStation 5 is that it comes with a blazing fast SSD that cuts down on things like installation and loading times. The only problem, however, is that it's just 825GB, and only about 660GB of it can be used for storing games and other media. That's barely enough to store a handful of modern titles that can take up more than 100GB each. Thankfully, the PS5 comes with an expansion slot that lets you add an M.2 NVMe SSD to quickly expand the storage when the included SSD fills up.

Seagate Game Drive 2TB SSD review: A fast and reliable SSD for your PS5

One of the PS5's most attractive features is its upgradeable M.2 SSD, but there's a catch: it needs to be fast. This is because the PS5 has DirectStorage-like technology, and a slow SSD just won't work. Consequently, PS5 owners looking for PS5-friendly SSDs need to be pretty careful, and that's where Seagate's Game Drive PS5 NVMe SSD comes in. It's made for the PS5, is officially licensed by Sony, and offers 1TB and 2TB models.

Best SSD for PS5 in 2024

Out of space on your PS5? You don't need to delete your games with a high-speed NVME SSD upgrade.

Sony made a big deal about the PS5’s SSD performance and its games lean heavily into that speed, but with fairly small 825GB drive, it fills up quickly. Luckily, PS5 has an open M.2 slot, so you can add more system storage that can be used for both PS5 and PS4 games. Just about any PCIe Gen 4 SSD will work, but make sure the SSD you use has a heatsink, so it stays cool and performs optimally under load. With tons of digital games available thanks to PlayStation Plus, you can try them all without deleting your favorites.

Samsung's 990 Pro SSD is one of the fastest drives available today, and it's great for pretty much any gaming or professional desktop or laptop. That's also true for the 990 Pro and the PS5. Samsung advertises that the 990 Pro is compatible with the PS5. Installing a 990 Pro could not only improve loading times, but the 2TB model would also double the storage. And since the PS5 only comes with 825GB of storage, you'll likely need that extra space.

After nearly two years on the market, modders have been able to jailbreak the PlayStation 5. While this is exciting news for some, the exploit is still in its infancy which means there is still a lot of work to be done to make it stable. The news was announced by security researcher SpecterDev, who has, in the past, released firmware exploits for the PlayStation 4. The new experimental WebKit-based kernel exploit currently works with firmware version 4.03 for the PlayStation 5. It is not compatible with newer firmware versions, though it is possible that it will be backported to older ones.According to the GitHub page, the exploit was created using previous work by the TheFloW, otherwise known as Andy Nguyen, who has in the past contributed to exploits for the PlayStation 4 and is better know for his contributions to the PlayStation Vita community. The new exploit will grant users root access and also to the console's debug menu. With both of these options unlocked, those that are curious are now free to tinker with the console's inner workings. For the time being, due to the limitations of the exploit, users will be able to install but not run PKG files.
