What makes this announcement particularly interesting is that it will look to unify the wireless charging standard, officially bringing Apple's MagSafe tech to Android devices. Although announced during CES 2023, we can expect smartphones and chargers with Qi2 compatibility to arrive towards the end of 2023.

The Qi standard guarantees that any device that is Qi-compatible and comes with the Qi logo will work with any charging surface that also carries the logo, irrespective of the manufacturer or brand. This wireless charging interoperability is a key driving force behind the increased adoption of wireless charging technology as it works in the combined interests of the consumers as well as the manufacturers.
