Vivo has silently refreshed its Vivo V series in India with the launch of the Vivo V20 2021, a follow up to the Vivo V20 (2020) that launched just two months ago. As expected there aren’t many major hardware upgrades to talk about here, with the only major change being the new Snapdragon 730G chipset. But beyond that, the new phone is identical to the last model in every respect.
Samsung Galaxy M51 Review: The New Benchmark for Battery Life in Smartphones
Read the XDA review of the Samsung Galaxy M51 to find out its strengths and weaknesses. The 7,000mAh battery is class-leading.
Not too long ago, Samsung was ceding a lot of ground to China-based smartphone vendors such as Xiaomi and Realme in the budget, lower mid-range, and upper mid-range segments of the smartphone market. In 2017 and 2018, the company lost its position as the top smartphone vendor in India to Xiaomi, and it hasn't regained it since. The budget Galaxy J series and the mid-range Galaxy A series weren't competitive enough to stand out in a crowded world of high-value propositions. Therefore, Samsung reset its mid-range phone strategy in 2019 with the launch of the new online-only Galaxy M series and a substantially upgraded Galaxy A series. Phones like the Galaxy M30 and its successors were meaningful steps forward, even though they still couldn't compete head-to-head with more aggressively priced phones. Even in 2020, the Galaxy M series has a value deficit when compared with phones from Xiaomi and Realme, but that hasn't stopped Samsung from doubling down on the series' USP: huge battery capacities. The Galaxy M20 and the Galaxy M30 had 5,000mAh batteries, while the Galaxy M30s brought a 6,000mAh battery to the mid-range segment, carried over by the Galaxy M31 and the Galaxy M31s. Now, the new Samsung Galaxy M51 - intended as the flagship of the M series - brings a mammoth 7,000mAh battery, a first for a mainstream "branded" phone in the upper mid-range segment.
Samsung Galaxy M51 launched in India with Snapdragon 730G and a 7,000mAh battery
Samsung has launched the Galaxy M51 in India for the prices of ₹24,999 and ₹26,999 for the 6GB/128GB and 8GB/128GB variants respectively.
It can be argued that this year's lower and upper mid-range smartphone launches in India don't have the same value proposition as last year's launches. Higher taxes coupled with price increases generation over generation has meant that 2019 was better for consumers looking for the most bang for the buck. However, that hasn't stopped vendors such as Xiaomi, Samsung, and Realme from releasing new phones. Samsung's Galaxy M series was a hit last year, coming after years of lowly efforts in the mid-range price spectrum. This year, Samsung has refreshed phones such as the Galaxy M30s with the Galaxy M31 (hands-on) and then the Galaxy M31s (review). While last year's Galaxy M lineup was completed with the Galaxy M40, this year, Samsung has so far not released a successor to the Galaxy M40, instead releasing a higher-targeted phone with the Galaxy M51 (there was no Galaxy M50 last year). The Galaxy M51's unique feature is the presence of a 7,000mAh battery, but it's no slouch in some other respects too. Samsung launched the phone in Germany at the end of August, and now the phone has made its way to India.
Samsung Galaxy M51 with massive 7,000 mAh battery quietly launched in Europe
The Samsung Galaxy M51 brings notable improvements, including a massive battery, a switch to Snapdragon processor, and a bigger display.
Samsung has quietly launched the long-rumored Galaxy M51 in Germany. As a brand new entry in Samsung's popular Galaxy M series, the Galaxy M51 exists as a higher-placed alternative to the Galaxy M31s, which was launched earlier in July. The Galaxy M51 brings along several notable improvements, including a behemoth battery, a (possible) switch over to a Snapdragon processor, and a slightly bigger display.
Motorola One Fusion+ launches in India with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G and pop-up selfie camera
Motorola has just launched the Moto One Fusion+ smartphone in India, packing a HDR10 display, Snapdragon 730G SoC and a 5,000 mAh battery.
Motorola is expanding its portfolio of mid-range smartphones in India with a new entry. The company just launched the Moto One Fusion+. This is, of course, not the first time we hear about Motorola’s latest Moto One series smartphone. The phone was quietly unveiled by Motorola on its website earlier this month, but today the company is officially launching it in the Indian market.
YouTube leaks the Motorola One Fusion+ with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730, 5,000mAh battery, and June 2020 launch date
YouTube has leaked a possible render and some specifications of the Motorola One Fusion+, an upcoming mid-range smartphone from the Lenovo-owned brand.
Back in April, Motorola launched the Edge and Edge+, marking the Lenovo-owned brand's return to flagship smartphones. Both devices have Qualcomm's latest chipsets announced in December, multi-camera arrays, large batteries, and the same 90Hz curved OLED displays. While the Edge+ is rather expensive, the regular Edge should be much more affordable when it launches later this year. However, the Edge may be joined by a cheaper mid-range smartphone in the Motorola One lineup. The Motorola One Fusion+ may be launching as early as next month if a new listing from Google is to be believed.
Early Google Pixel 4a performance review compares the 2020 mid-range Pixel to the Pixel 4, Pixel 3a, and Pixel 3 XL
Here's an early look at the performance of the Google Pixel 4a and its Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 versus the Pixel 4, Pixel 3a XL, and Pixel 3 XL.
If there wasn't a global pandemic to worry about, then Google would have held its annual developer conference, Google I/O, in Mountain View, California this week. At last year's I/O, Google unveiled its first-ever mid-range Pixel devices, the Pixel 3a and 3a XL. This year, we're expecting Google to follow-up with a new mid-range Pixel smartphone called the Pixel 4a. We don't know when exactly this 2020 mid-range Pixel will be announced, but thanks to leaks, we know pretty much all there is to know about it. Ahead of the Google Pixel 4a announcement, we can detail the phone's performance thanks to benchmarks performed on pre-release hardware.
POCO X2 Review: Every Bit Better Than the POCO F1
POCO X2 is every bit as good as the POCO F1 and even better in a lot ways, despite not being its true sucessor. Read our review to find out how!
Xiaomi and its spin-off brand Redmi have always pushed affordability over everything else. In its five-plus-year tenure in India, Xiaomi has radically transformed the dynamics of the smartphone industry in the country. This penchant for making smartphones affordable and accessible to users still shines bright in the company’s vision despite the huge growth and patronage it enjoys. Even against the high value that Xiaomi’s smartphones have to offer, the POCO F1 stood out as an embodiment of practicality. Although it wasn't perfect, the POCO F1 was a beacon of hope for consumers dismayed at the rising prices of flagship smartphones. The phone was met with high demand and garnered an enthusiastic following, and since its release, users have clamored for an equally high value-driven successor. While POCO has yet to release a successor even after 18 months, the brand's latest POCO X2 is a contender that could achieve the same acclaim.
POCO is sending the POCO X2 to custom ROM and kernel developers
POCO is sending out POCO X2 units to custom ROM and kernel developers, planting the seeds for a supportive custom development community. Read on for more!
If you have been following Android news in recent years, you have likely heard of the POCO and its first phone, the renowned POCO F1. POCO started off as a sub-brand under Xiaomi in 2018 but has since graduated into its own independent brand in 2020 with its own separate and distinct market strategy. The POCO X2 is its newest device in the market, bringing to the table the same value-oriented pricing that made the POCO F1 a winner. What the POCO X2 also carries over from the POCO F1 is developer-friendliness -- POCO had promised Day 1 kernel source release, and the company delivered. Now, POCO is going one step further in its support for the developer community by sending out the POCO X2 to custom ROM and kernel developers.
"Sunfish" is the Google Pixel 4a with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730
We have found evidence directly linking the code-name "sunfish" with the Google Pixel 4a marketing name. This device will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730.
For the past few weeks, we've been tracking three code-names we suspect relate to in-development Google Pixel devices: sunfish, redfin, and bramble. Thanks to the extremely-reliable @OnLeaks, we know that Google is working on a follow-up to the Pixel 3a that's unsurprisingly expected to be called the Pixel 4a. Although we recently stumbled upon evidence that ties the sunfish, redfin, and bramble code-names to the Pixel 2020 mid-range series, we lacked definitive evidence that linked these code-names to specific marketing names.
POCO X2 with 120Hz display, Snapdragon 730G launches in India at ₹15,999 ($225)
POCO has finally launched its second smartphone, the POCO X2, in India featuring the Snapdragon 730G, up to 8GB of RAM, and up to 256GB of storage.
POCO started off as an independent sub-brand of Chinese OEM Xiaomi back in August 2018. With the launch of its first smartphone — the POCO F1 — the brand had a promising start. However, despite the popularity of its budget-friendly flagship-spec device, POCO didn't launch another device for quite a while. Fans wondered whether the brand was just a one-hit-wonder and if Xiaomi had any further plans for it. After over a year-long lull, POCO came back strong earlier this year with a staged rollout of Android 10 for the POCO F1 and an announcement that POCO would become an independent brand. Following that, the company started posting teasers on social media for a "Season 2" and confirmed that a new device was in the works. Now, after a month's worth of teasers and leaks, POCO has finally launched the POCO X2 in India.
OPPO Reno2 Review - A Solidly Mid-Range Smartphone
The OPPO Reno2 is a mid-range smartphone with a pop-up camera, bezel-less display, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G. Read our review here!
2019 was a pivotal year for OPPO on the global smartphone market. The OPPO Reno 10x Zoom was actually my favorite phone of that year thanks to its impressive haptics and stellar image quality in an all-around great package. With the company's commitment to becoming more than just a smartphone brand in 2020, I'm excited to see what they'll come out with next. One of their newest smartphones, the Reno3, was just announced late last month, but given that it hasn't launched outside of China yet, it's effectively a 2020 device. Before we check that device out, we wanted to test its immediate predecessor, the Reno2. The mid-range OPPO Reno2 launched in Europe back in October, and we've had quite a bit of time to gather our thoughts on it.
Google may be working on 2 mid-range Pixel phones for 2020: One with the 5G Snapdragon 765 and another with the 4G Snapdragon 730
We found code-names for what could be Google's mid-range 2020 Pixel phones. One will have the 5G-enabled Snapdragon 765 and the other the 4G Snapdragon 730.
Every October, we expect Google to release a new Pixel smartphone to compete for the best Android phones around. In 2016, the company unveiled its first-generation Pixel and Pixel XL. In 2017, we saw the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. There were no surprises in 2018 when Google announced the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Last year, however, Google threw a curveball by announcing the first mid-range Pixel phones in the Pixel 3a and 3a XL at Google I/O 2019. Though the company did later reveal the Pixel 4 and 4 XL in October of last year, the introduction of the 3a series has us anticipating a follow-up for this year. Indeed, @Onleaks, a famous leaker of smartphones, shared CAD renders of what's likely going to be the mid-2020 Pixel 4a.

The Mi CC9 made its way to Europe as the Mi 9 Lite, while the Mi CC9e made its way to Europe and India as the rather underwhelming Mi A3. Now, the Chinese company is moving on to the next product in this lineup, launching the Mi CC9 Pro in China.

But while still on the stage, Realme's CEO made some crucial announcement about an upcoming variant of the Realme XT with Snapdragon 730G chipset inside and announced the schedule for the Android 10 for Realme devices.
