The Pixel 5a 5G may have the same chip as last year's Pixel 4a 5G
The Google Pixel 5a 5G might come with the same Snapdragon 765G chipset that powered its predecessor, the Pixel 4a 5G.
We're heading into the half of the year, which means that it shouldn't be much longer before we see new Pixel smartphones. But things seem a tad bit muddier this year, not just because of the COVID-19 pandemic still going strong, but also because of a new problem that's affecting all kinds of electronics appliances: a global chip shortage. While the effects of that shortage have been felt mostly on PC components like graphics cards, it has started to affect smartphones. Nonetheless, plans are still going forward for Google to release their usual Pixel 2021 lineup, which will reportedly include the Pixel 5a 5G. But if you were expecting to see any major changes, prepare to be disappointed: it will reportedly still have the same SoC as the Pixel 5 and the Pixel 4a 5G, the Snapdragon 765G.
The new Qualcomm Snapdragon 780G is a fitting successor to the Snapdragon 765G
The Snapdragon 780G is the latest entry in Qualcomm's 7xx family, bringing faster CPU performance, support for 144Hz displays, and much more.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 series is a relatively recent entry in the company’s chipset portfolio. Introduced in 2018 to bridge the gap between the Snapdragon 6xx and 8xx series, the 7xx lineup combines some of the premium features from the company’s top-tier chips in an affordable package. Since its release, the Snapdragon 7xx series has become a go-to choice for many budget-friendly and premium mid-range smartphones. The Snapdragon 765G, in particular, has had great success, having featured on popular phones such as OnePlus Nord, OPPO Reno 5, Mi 10 Lite, Vivo V20 Pro, Nokia 8.3, to name but a few. Seeing just how big of a hit the Snapdragon 765G turned out to be, it was only natural that Qualcomm would follow up with a proper successor. And that's exactly what the company is doing with the release of the brand new Snapdragon 780G.

Of this wide portfolio, SoCs like the Snapdragon 765 and 765G stand out, as they offer features seen in flagship-tier products while maintaining a lower price and better value proposition. Google Pixel 5 Review - A flagship chip isn't needed for a flagship phone
The Google Pixel 5 is Google's 2020 flagship smartphone but it doesn't have a flagship chip. In our review, we explain why it doesn't matter.
Google Pixel smartphones are widely considered the iPhones of the Android world. Google controls the experience from the top down, just like Apple does. The software on Pixel smartphones showcase what Google believes Android should be, and as such, the software is often well-received by enthusiasts. The hardware, on the other hand, has always left a bit to be desired in one or more aspects. With the launch of the Google Pixel 5, the company changed things up a bit and instead opted to pack a mid-range Qualcomm chipset instead of this year's flagship Qualcomm silicon.

Instead of going with a small-sized flagship and an XL variant of the same, Google is mixing things up a little. And instead of a Google Pixel 5 XL, we now get a 5G variant of the previously announced Google Pixel 4a. OnePlus Nord Review: Great Performance at a Great Price
The OnePlus Nord is OnePlus' first mid-range smartphone since the OnePlus X. Powered by the Snapdragon 765G and a 90Hz display, it doesn't disappoint.
Every OnePlus smartphone since the 2014 OnePlus One has featured a flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 series chipset. The use of Qualcomm's latest silicon has been integral to OnePlus' marketing, as is evident from the slogans that OnePlus chose for the OnePlus 6 ("The Speed You Need"), the OnePlus 6T ("Unlock The Speed"), the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition ("Salute to Speed"), the OnePlus 7 ("Go Beyond Speed"), and the OnePlus 8 ("Lead With Speed.") From a performance standpoint, OnePlus has never deviated from its 'Never Settle' mantra. However, with the new OnePlus Nord, the company is using Qualcomm's mid-range Snapdragon 765G SoC rather than the flagship Snapdragon 865. The Nord is OnePlus' first mid-range smartphone since the 2015 OnePlus X, and it's also the company's first device to not use a Snapdragon 800 series chip.
OnePlus Nord announced with Snapdragon 765G, 90Hz display, and quad cameras starting at ₹24,999/€399
The OnePlus Nord is finally here, marking OnePlus' return to the mid range smartphone market with the Snapdragon 765G, and more. Read on to know more!
OnePlus has largely stuck to using the Snapdragon 8xx series flagship processors for its smartphone over the years. These releases also largely come around when the processor is relatively new, thus often pitching OnePlus smartphones against other flagships of that processor generation. Perhaps the only exception to this was the OnePlus X -- launched back in October 2015, the phone opted to use an older flagship processor instead of the newest one available that year -- marking itself as a more mid-range option. After a few gap years, OnePlus is now marking a return to the mid-range segment with the OnePlus Nord, and this time, it's using a proper mid-range SoC instead of an older flagship processor.

The ZTE Axon 11 5G and Axon 11 4G have gone on sale in Germany, with other regions in Europe and Middle East on the radar for the future. Read on!
ZTE’s Axon lineup is the flagship lineup from the Chinese OEM, giving us some competitive "flagship killers" over the years like the ZTE Axon 7 and innovative products like the ZTE Axon M dual-screen foldable. But the company had always underperformed in terms of general availability and marketing for otherwise-good products, which is the reason why they never really caught on. ZTE is taking another swing at releasing its products in international markets, as the company has now launched the ZTE Axon 11 5G and 4G variants in Germany, and is looking forward to a launch in the USA next year.

The LG Velvet is now available in Italy at a price of €649, with pre-order benefits including free LG Dual Screen, LG earbuds, and a silicon clear case.
The LG Velvet was announced last month with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC and stylus support. This phone is significant because it marks a shift for LG, turning around the focus from the spec sheet to the design and greater general availability of the phone. The idea with the LG Velvet is to bring a good experience to a greater number of people, a strategy that makes sense seeing how 5G has made flagships very expensive this year. LG recently announced wider availability for the device, indicating that the phone is coming to more international markets. Today, the LG Velvet has launched in Italy, coming in at a price of €649, giving us the first pricing information for the product.

Remember HTC? We wouldn't blame you if you didn't. What was once a company that competed against Samsung in terms of innovation in the Android smartphone space, now remains a shadow of its former self. To lend some perspective, HTC is credited for being the first smartphone OEM to create a community program in the form of HTC Elevate, much before OnePlus or Xiaomi came into the picture, but sadly, the program has been shut down. For 2020, HTC is aiming for revival, and it is doing so by releasing two mid-range phones for the Taiwanese market. Meet the new HTC U20 5G and the HTC Desire 20 Pro.
