Earlier last month at Unpacked, Samsung teased the Galaxy Z Fold 2 to the world. This is the next generation of the Galaxy Fold series, one of Samsung's most controversial device series in recent memory. After it's original launch in April 2019 and a 6-month delay, Samsung finally managed to release it. It quickly became one of the most loved devices among reviewers and consumers alike. A short 6 months later, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Flip with a new hinge, display, design, and more -- and this foldable also quickly became loved by reviews and consumers alike. Samsung is now launching the Galaxy Z Fold 2 with all of the improvements, and more, of the Galaxy Z Flip in the Galaxy Fold form factor.

The Samsung Galaxy Fold will be remembered for giving birth to the consumer-ready foldable smartphone category. The phone was massively hyped leading up to its launch, for good reason too, but it met with an unfortunate set of events that forced Samsung to take the product back to the drawing board. Samsung returned with some improvements, and the Galaxy Fold took off from there. Samsung then experimented with another foldable form factor through the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, which continued to capture everyone's attention. Samsung now has two good products to learn from, and they are back again in the foldable segment with its latest offering. Meet the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Samsung's latest foldable flagship.

Back in 2018, ASUS launched the ROG Phone, the company's first gaming smartphone under the ROG brand. Today, there are several competing gaming smartphones on the market from brands like Black Shark, Nubia's Red Magic, and Vivo's iQOO. Each of these brands offers powerful hardware and useful gaming features at a compelling price, but ASUS stands out from the pack with its no-compromise philosophy toward features. The spec sheet for last year's ROG Phone II checked off nearly everything that a smartphone enthusiast could ever ask for, and while this year's ROG Phone 3 is missing a few features we were hoping to see, there's no doubt that ASUS has another winner on its hands. The ASUS ROG Phone 3 is the king of gaming smartphones, but it's also just a very good smartphone overall, even if you're not into gaming.

The ASUS ROG Phone is a gaming smartphone series from ASUS that is unapologetic about being "gaming first". While this is certainly not the only gaming smartphone series around, it is one of the more widely available gaming phones that have consistently been pushing the boundaries of how much overkill can you really go on a phone. ASUS is now releasing the successor to the surprisingly successful ROG Phone II, coming in the form of the ASUS ROG Phone 3 and the ASUS ROG Phone 3 Strix Edition.

In 2019, Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola set out to create and conquer the segment of foldable smartphones with their respective contenders. Out of these, Samsung undeniably received most of the spotlight for the Galaxy Fold, primarily owing to its worldwide popularity. The Galaxy Fold was followed by Samsung's vertically folding and relatively much more compact Galaxy Flip Z that was unveiled alongside the Galaxy S20 series. Although the Galaxy Z Flip is projected as futuristic, it has one major hurdle that deters it from being future-ready i.e. the lack of 5G connectivity. That changes today as Samsung is launching an overhauled Galaxy Z Flip with 5G. Even though the Galaxy Z Flip 5G was expected to launch alongside the Galaxy Note 20 series at the live Samsung Unpacked event next month, the Korean giant has officially announced the new device, presumably to avoid chaos at the already packed (pun unintended) launch event.

At the 2019 Snapdragon Tech Summit, Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 865, its flagship mobile platform for 2020 flagship Android mobile devices. The system-on-chip has turned out to be the best smartphone SoC so far in 2020, beating the Exynos 990, Kirin 990, and the MediaTek Dimensity 1000L. It has been featured in acclaimed flagships such as the OnePlus 8 series, the Xiaomi Mi 10, the Snapdragon Galaxy S20 variants, and many more. Even though the Snapdragon 865 remains best-in-class in the Android smartphone market, Qualcomm has launched a mid-cycle refresh in the form of the Snapdragon 865 Plus. This follows the template of previous Snapdragon mid-cycle refreshes such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus in 2019 and the Snapdragon 821 back in 2016.
